Which Season from Kobe has been your favorite?

Overall, I'd probably go with 2008-09 because of its satisfying nature. He was fantastic from start to finish, and from a leadership perspective, this was him at his best. He had the team focused and hungry for a title, and his two-way play was top notch throughout the post-season.

2000-01 is very, very close though. If it weren't for him missing some time in the regular season and being a part of the whole feud (it got to a point where he supposedly secretly demanded a trade), this would pretty easily be my favorite due to how well he played in the post-season. Overall, it's hard to rank this one #1 because Kobe didn't put it all together until late in the season after he and Shaq put their egos aside. I'm in the midst of rewatching some of the earlier series (have rewatched those Finals several times) from that post-season and IMO that was clearly his best overall playoff performance. He is completely ass-raping the Kings and Spurs. People forget how great he was even as a 22-year old.

I'm partial to a young Kobe. Like others I've spent a lot of time wondering what kind of numbers he could have thrown up from 01-03 with his own team. Kobe in those seasons was SCARY defensively while being dominant offensively in the regular and post seasons. It really only seems that Laker fans appreciate how good Kobe was then compared to now, everybody else seems to have forgotten.

I'd have to say '03 was my favorite. That 40 point binge was crazy entertaining, and if he wasn't the best player in the league that year he was damn close.

'06 would rank second, what Kobe did with that time was off the charts. I still cringe when I think of how awful that team was top to bottom, Chris Mihm, Smush Parker, and Luke Walton as starters...bleh.

Third has got to be 2001. I'd say '01 and '08 were Kobe's most dominant and entertaining post-season runs, he absolutely TORCHED Sacramento and San Antonio, our two biggest rivals at the time. He WAS our playoff MVP, no questions asked.

Fourth I'd say is '08, followed closely by '09 and then '02.

Yeah, that 40-point run was something else, and the preceding 4 games where he scored 40, 38, 42, 35 often get overlooked as well. His play during that stretch of games turned our entire season around, in fact. The Lakers were 19-23 at that point, and even with Shaq back everyone was playing uninspired, lackadaisical basketball. His outburst lit a fire under the teams collective asses and we finished the season strong by going 31-9.

It's too bad that we didn't go all the way that year, because it would have probably been my favorite Kobe season from start to finish if that happened.

05-06 felt empty to me. I enjoyed his scoring outbursts, but ultimately they made me sad because I knew in the grand scheme of the season it didnt mean anything, and that another year of Kobe's prime was being wasted on a crap team.

I'd say 2009 or 2002 seasons from him were my favorites. In 2009 because he was so focused all year and he and us both knew the ultimate goal was in reach, and he excelled so much in taking it.

In 2002 I felt as if he finally had catapulted himself into discussion with Shaq as the league's leading player after his 01 postseason and 02 regular season.

Probably 2001 for me. I loved watching him burn the Kings and Spurs in the playoffs. His defense was sick then, too.

07-08 just reminds me of the lakers losing to the celtics, so 08-09 for me.

for me too, i dont like to remember how the season ended, 09 was great, that feeling of revenge, beating all the top teams in the league, when everyone was saying the team was soft
05-06 season was amazing also, when we got the 3-1 lead vs suns

Watching past footage, it's amazing how much athleticism he's lost now. Kobe's first step was ridiculous and his defense was second to none.
