Our 3pt shooters

Post#1 » by Imadogg » Wed Nov 24, 2010 9:46 am

I know the season is young... but we're done with 18% of the season already! 15 games in and here's some of our numbers for 3pt shooting

We're 1st in the league in 3s made at over 9 a game, and 2nd in the league in 3pt% at 43% as a team.

Here are our shooters... some unbelievable numbers so far.
Fish - 17 3s made at 54.8% (3rd best % in the league)
Shannon - 29 made at 50.9% (6th)
Blake - 23 made at 50% (8th)
Odom - 11 made at 50% (11th)
Barnes - 18 made at 46.2% (18th)

Of course these numbers will normalize but it's great to see them. This is what we've needed, for our shooters to be able to shoot. I'm loving it.

And on a sidenote, we're 4th in FG% and 2nd in FT% (I love to see that one)

haha. he's been limiting his mistakes (forced shots and solo fastbreaks) plus with steve blake cutting into some of his minutes it helps.
Thank you, Phil.

I love this D-Fish. I think he knows he has Blake behind his asss so he needs to come to play every night.. where in the past he had Farmar off the bench and he knew he'd stay as the starter

^ Yup, this is all it is. Lol, Fish knew a year ago dumbo would never stop half assing his bench duties enough to prove to Phil he could overtake him for the starting role. Why force the issue at his age during the course of the 82 game marathon? Not the case with Blake backing him up. :D

We have 5 guys having career years from behind the 3 pt line, it's great. I'm sure out of those 5, at least one can stick with those percentages and I think it's Shannon Brown.

I'm happy with our guys hitting 3s but I don't trust it...

Hitting 3s comes and goes, it's hard to be consistently deadly at it. So I just hope we continue to realize championships are won from the inside out, and our success from beyond the arc doesn't make us lazy closer to the hoop.
Personally, I can't wait till we have a lineup of Bynum, Gasol, Artest, Kobe, and Fish on the floor, because the post up game and D would be insane.

But in the meantime, winning this way saves our guys and is really quite impressive/scary for the rest of the league.

As did I.

Then you realize when Pau has an off shooting night he still produces in other categories.

When kobe goes 2-24, he usually also has 1 asst, 1 reb.

What can I say, Pau is really soft and sucks a lot.

Even though Odom is shooting 50% from downtown, I still close my eyes a bit when he launches it. When Brown pr Blake shoot, I already put 3 fingers in the air knowing that it's going in.

Bust a zone on the Lakers? Ha.

100% agree, but I think this year most of the 3 pt attempts have come as a result of the guards willingness to run the offense thru gasol first. Not as much bounce x 12 then Jack by fish, Shannon and LO. Only Kobe continues to do that since we run iso s for him and he take end of clock shots and this why he ain't on the radar of decent fg %.

If we continue to be patient, the open shots will always be there and with the way killer b's, fish and artest are sniping, it will be like a layup on most nights. However, we have to be smart enough to know if as a team we shoot 2-13 that we curtail our attempts and be more willing to punish in the paint, get to the ft line, etc.
