Some might think i'm deluding myself, but some regular season losses, no matter how embarrassing, are not going convince me this club is old news. Someone takes us down in a 7 game format - I'll buy it. But until then, I'm ignoring all the outside chatter. I've got too much faith in our guys to believe otherwise. Too much.

The amount of Patron I drank couldn't wipe away the bad taste of this lost.
2-0 Spurs on the season series. Next one in San Antone.
These Losses Hurt but it is a Marathon and not a Sprint.
"F" all the Haters and Doubters.
Time to get ready for this Big Road Trip.

Re: LAKERS VS SPURS 2/3/11 7:30 PM TNT/FSN
I wanna say this, the teams we struggled against last year, Orlando, Dallas, Cleveland etc., we didn't end up facing come Playoff time. I felt the matchups last year heavily favored the Lakers and they were extremely fortunate not to face the teams that had their number in the regular season. So these losses to me our a bit concerning, because it's very likely we'll end up facing some of these teams. Having said that, clearly they're not playing at their best. The weak links to me as of now are Artest, Fisher and Pau. I'm not worried about Kobe, he looks better this year than he did last year to be honest and is closer to where he was two seasons ago. Bynum & Odom have played well and have both been pretty consistent which is a miracle. This team is frustrating as hell, but there isn't much we can do about it.

DEEP this team needs to take things personal people talking trash that they're not going to win this year and that they won't even make it out of the West, we all know Kobe is going to step up but if it's him going 1 on 5 we're in a lot of trouble, damn man who else has heart on this team Pau had 7 boards and Drew had 10 one played a lot more than the other, and Odom... don't even get me started lol

Re: LAKERS VS SPURS 2/3/11 7:30 PM TNT/FSN
On the plus side, the guys I doubted most came through in this game...
Artest played hard-nosed D pretty much all night. Blake did too. (Their shots weren't falling though)
Kobe played like we need him too... I think people question his shot selection too much... I don't think they take into account how many of his missed shots are taken in the attempt to draw a foul. He used to get more of those calls. That said, we need him to make more of his open shots, or find someone who can.
I thought Bynum played pretty well up until Duncan blocked his shot. But he should have been in instead of Odom for the final play to help clog the lane. He also was the only one rebounding with authority all game. I didn't see Odom jump once during any of the final 3 plays. He was just standing there as McDyse went up for the tip... You risk an over-the back in a 1 point game with less than a second left... They aren't calling that.
Phil tightened up the rotation for this game and I think it was helpful but the failure to put Bynum in for the final play just doesn't make sense to me.
Unfortunately, Fish and Brown didn't do much for us, Odom was off and Pau was a little flat.
Pau should only be settling for 10' jumpers with less than 5 sec on the clock and Bynum in the game. And what is it with him tap-rebounding this season? I remember that used to drive Chick nuts... Vlade used to tap the ball all the time. I can still hear Chick getting on him for not grabbing the rebounds. Pau seems to go up with one hand all the time now and tap the ball... It's only marginally successful.
All in all, our Defense showed up which had been our problem, but we still should be able to sink a few of those wide open shots.
Still waiting for a complete game against a top-tier team, but I'm not as disappointed by this loss as I was against Boston.

Final 4 teams will be SA vs Dallas and Miami vs Boston.....Lakers are playing for 5th best team in the league. That is failure.
As i said last Sunday, the Lakers season unofficially ended after the Celtics beatdown. The funeral date is TBD because i'm not sure when they will get eliminated but 2nd round is 95% positive.

Parker clearly got away with an offensive foul on his last drive, Kobe was outside the restricted area and had his feet set. With that said we should have never given the Spurs three chances to score, that just unacceptable. I don't know how Ron Artest didn't grab the rebound off the Parker miss. Heartbreaking loss.
I'm not worried though, if history has proven anything it's that Phil Jackson teams aren't always the best in the regular season.

Minhee, your tone and ur attitude hasnt changed over the last year. Its funny how we won a championship last year even tho u were saying the same stuff u are saying now. i think u need to chill, cuz aint no way dallas beating us in a 7 game series. maybe san antonio, but its not even the all star break. if the playoffs were tomorrow i would be concerned, but theres like 40 more games left. CHILLAXE. talkin bout funerals and stuff..

folks, the season is NOT over. I will however, get closer to the nails to place in the coffin if we totally SUCK during this road trip. As i believe it is THAT IMPORTANT. I believe that this road trip will definitely see if we have the spark to turn it on, or if they do not have the power to summon it up.
after that loss, if that doesnt put a sting in your ass, and if that loss doesnt turn on at least some sort of spark . . . then it could spell trouble. but I say wait until this road trip is over.

i thought i was the only one that saw that. Kobe got that call against him vs chuck freaking Hayes couple nights ago.

Maybe we should experiment with Odom at the 3 when Artest is off (which is more often than not this year)...
Steve Blake has been a disappointment after a good start to the season, PG is (as usual) a big problem
Yeah I like that line up from time to time as well. Every time Phil has experimented with it Drew has gotten hurt. I would like to see it again though.

Finally Feb 3rd Arrived. When I came to San Diego in August I circled that date. Had great seats 7 rows from the floor. That being said Spurs vs Lakers did not let me down.
Both teams struggled. Spurs missed open look after open look. Lakers kept settling for jump shots. But when it was all said and done Spurs did just did a little more.
Are the Lakers done..obviously no
Do they need to make a trade...I think not
But one thing is certain being 8 games back in the loss collum , the Lakers are going to have to go through San Antonio to get to the Finals.

None of here are thinking that far ahead anymore SApuro. We have to take care of our own problems first. Hell by most of the readings and topics here on RealGM the Lakers are done.SApuro_ wrote:Finally Feb 3rd Arrived. When I came to San Diego in August I circled that date. Yeah as a fan you'd like for your team to win the title every year, fact is it just doesn't happen that way. I won't be upset if we don't get it this year, all it means is that Dr.Buss will do his part on retooling this team quickly........which is bad news for the NBA.
So everybody can piss on us when we're down, but when we get back to being that team again a lot of guys who kicked us will have to pay the price. Myself I got a long memory, I'll know who to blast coming out the gates. Believe that.

^^^^ deep I would love it for you and anybody to blast away at me come Mid June. I really do. I sincerely hope the Lakers prove me wrong and i would let each and everyone of you bombard me with insults if the Lakers can pull off a miracle to win a title.
Until that happens i am sticking with my signature below, they have aggravated me enough where I believe deep down in my heart that their season ended last Sunday vs Boston. Any chance of a last minute revival was killed when Odom did not box out on his man.
As much as I give props to Odom for his play this season, he's still a dumbass who displays his low IQ at the wrong time. Fouling Big Baby at the buzzer like an idiot, getting caught ball watching as McDyess slips in by him for that tip in. This is something that will never change, Odom will always remain a dumb@$$ that he is no matter how consistent he has been this year.
