Re: It's Time To Panic!!!!
Well if we're going to get Melo, the F.O. better hurry up and make an attempt. Nets over there offering 4 1st rounders, Favors, Harris, 6 Stretch Hummers, unlimited oil supply to fuel said Hummers, Joe Budden, Snooki, and half a share of The Borgata for Melo. I agree that is still a good line up, but we'll get lit up in the paint no question if we play Boston. Another thing if that trade happens, we're out of contention for D12.

If Snooki is really on the table from New Jersey Shore, than the Lakeshow has no shot of getting Melo.

Now to present day news: Mitch Kupchak, after praising Jerry West, said it's "unlikely" that the Lakers will make a trade.

Kind of a bummer. Although getting a healthy Matt Barnes back will sort of be like a trade acquisition.

This team reminds me so much of the team that lost to the Pistons in the finals, they think they can turn it on when ever they want and have yet to learn they can't.

I don't think they get tired of winning, I just think they don't care about the critics. We saw it with this team last year. When they know its playoff time than they will pick up their play but for now they are just walking through the motions.

"I think it's unlikely," Kupchak said. "But there's eight days to go. All of the general managers are here in Los Angeles this weekend, and there will be a lot of yapping. There will be a lot of guys moving off to the side, and there will be a lot of phone calls. ... I stand by what I said, that it's unlikely, but I don't think any general manager can stand here and say there will be absolutely no changes in eight days, in particular at this time of year."
"There's a tendency to overreact, and I get it," Kupchak said. "This team is not that different than the team we had last year, and in some ways, it's been improved. We have guys that didn't forget overnight how to practice and play."

Re: It's Time To Panic!!!!
Well, all I'm going to say is, there's a vast difference between having all the right pieces and having a championship TEAM...
I agree with Kuppy... I think we have the talent where we need it on paper to win it all... But right now it's all kinds of disconnected.
I hope he's right.

Danny Darko wrote:months ago this team lost me. I haven't watched this few games in 8 years. Something about our current roster bores the crap out of me. I could see us doing a Dream era Houston switch back to championship mode come playoffs, but honestly I'd still be bored with these guys. at this point I'd rather root for a young team, watch Bynum being thrust into the spotlight or have some other compelling storyline beyond "we look bad for all this talent". I don't want to be the Yankees, I want something to cheer for.
I miss Ariza, I'm irritated all over again that his agent is a dbag. I want to see more Ebanks. Shoot, at this point I honestly think he'd provide a spark over Ron the salesman.
I'm not finding it compelling to watch Kobe anymore, either. I'm really thankful for everything he's done for us including the entertaining drama he's side showed off and on, but now I'm left wondering how he an transition into the finisher without trying to dominate everything and how his personality will work with a lead dog. Pau could be the guy and Kobe would be ok, but I think we know better than to think Pau is a dominator. He's not type A enough. At the same time how can you shop or entertain Kobe not retiring in the P&G? I can't so I'm thinking we're in for a slow train wreck where we watch the sadness creep in and wonder when Kobe will finally either make a rash move or retire. The CBA might actually be a blessing if Kobe rides off into an Italian sunset, but I doubt we are spared.
Melo? Not sure how eager I would be to root for him. He doesn't seem like he has "it" for all his talent. Maybe that would become a reason to cheer again, but I'd rather watch Bynum prove weather he's got ceiling left and what he would be like as a vocal leader. It doesn't bother me that Phil doesn't fully trust him. Phil is the greatest NBA coach ever period, and he's also human and crotchedy and makes plenty of decisions soley based on his like or dislike for a player. Cough*lukewalton*Cough. I'm bound to be intrigued by next years team, but right now I'm hoping for a Mitch miracle to spark my interest.
Sums up my feelings exactly. PJ has done nothing to deflate the arrogance of this team. There was an opportunity earlier this year to light a fire with Ebanks. He played with a chip on his shoulder. Now it's probably too late. The rotations are too established. No one is under threat of being benched. The new guys are too aware of their roles, I feel like nobody is pushing the starters. No internal competition. I think Barnes is our last shot and even then I doubt it's enough.
That said I think there's something to say about playing single games and playing a series. I still like our chances...but all of these 3 game losing streaks have made even that a fool's hope.

Re: It's Time To Panic!!!!
it falls on kobe. not all and totally his fault. but as captain, he needs to make the corrections and fix the areas that need fixing. the areas for improvement.
who else is going to do it? pau? thats not his makeup.
coach jax? this is his final year, hes never come down hard before, and he definitely wont do it now. thats been his game, and hes stickin by it. the 'ol "let 'em figure it out"
kobe is thee one and only individual to do it. thats the only way to turn this around and get things going in the direction this thing needs to go. and as ive mentioned before, this is KOBEs big year. he either will shape and redirect his play and his game, the one way hes been playing for a loong time, or he wont. because he cannot depend on coach jax to call the timeouts for him. if he gets this right . . . he gets his 6th and reaches all-time greatness next to you know who. if not, we dont catch the celtics this time around.

Sky I agree but I don't know man it's a dangerous habit to fall into one day it's going to bite us in the ass, it almost did against the Thunder last year

So apparently we're still trying to get Kirk Hinrich. Didn't we have a deal in place last season that would have gotten him for Fisher & Vujacic. Our love for Fisher is a real detriment.

Haven't heard about Hinrich. I know we're big players in the Chauncy Billups sweepstakes if he gets bought out. Although from all reports, he'd like to play for Heat, the Lakers with Billups will make it out of the West, Heat with Billups still get owned by Boston IMHO.
