Hell no.

players like Byron Scott, Michael Cooper, Jamaal Wilkes, Norm Nixon, or even AC Green didnt get their numbers retired... these guys won multiple titles and were all-star caliber... No way Fisher gets his number retired

Doesn't matter how long Wilt played here. His contributions to the Lakers and to the league are the reason they retired his number. Like others have mentioned, he's a GOAT candidate.

If Fish can lead the players and sign a new CBA and not have any of the season lost. I say yes. But it is one of those decisions that is not made right away. A few years after he retires might be the best time.

michael cooper has also won 5 championships (played in 8 finals), was on numerous all defensive first teams (even won defensive player of the year once), was awarded the walter kennedy citizenship award....and his jersey hasnt been retired.

imo, michael cooper is the greatest role player in laker history and if his accomplishments hasnt warranted his number up the rafters, i dont see derek fisher up there.

That still doesn't warrant a franchise to retire his jersey. I love Fisher, but he doesn't truly belong up in the rafters if players such as Byron Scott, AC Green, and Michael Cooper aren't up there.

Shaq and Kobe are the locks for jersey retirement right now.

fisher memorable, but he's not a key player and was never a key player during our championship runs.

sure he's had his moments, but that doesn't mean he's going to get recognised the same way kobe is.

im going to have to say no.

unless fish dons a suit and starts winning the lakers a few rings as head coach

I would absolutely do it. He's hit a ton of clutch shots and has been great for the community as well. I'd say do it.

I say yes. As good as Shaq and Kobe were together, I don't think they would have won 3 titles in a row if it weren't for both Fish and Robert Horry coming through when the time came.

Wow, a guy with a career scoring average of 8.8 points, on 40% shooting, is getting multiple endorsements. This honestly stuns me.
