Brian Shaw Speaks, Lakers Don

Post#1 » by CowsMoo » Mon Jul 18, 2011 7:31 pm

Shaw’s interview is simply another negative p.r. hit for the Lakers and, ultimately, Jim Buss. Fair or not, the younger Buss has not built up the good will that his father has and these types of reports only hurt his perception with those that support the team. And while he did a good job of opening up and pulling back the curtain on what type of executive he is in an interview with the LA Times, Jim Buss still has a ways to go to overcome some of the negative connotations associated with his stewardship.

I think a lot of that goes with what Phil's old assistants have turned into since going out of his shadow. Rambis certainly hasn't set a great example and none of his Chicago assistants are in the coaching game so to speak.

I'd think Shaw could do a good job with the Wolves but no way they offer it to him. Another reason could be that I expect Shaw to be brutally honest whereas someone like Brown can be a great interviewer by knowing exactly what to tell the owners.

To me hiring Mike Brown because he had a great interview is like hiring Sarah Palin to do open heart surgery because he somehow talked his way into it. I have no idea what that man said to get the job. I'm beginning to realize why so many NBA coaches get fired so often - GM's hire based off an interview, and realize they were just sweet talked.

Jim Buss is **** all over our beloved Lakers due to his pride issues.

I worry what he will do to the team. The 2008 Kobe incident was Kobe pissed off (acting as childish as Jim Buss) over Jim Buss' comments about Kobe. Jim should have called Shaw. Mitch wasn't able to call Shaw because thats not how Jim wanted it done. Shaw should not have found out about the M. Brown hire on ESPN. Shaw's coaching stock went down. I think Shaw could have gotten a better job if he knew the Lakers were going w/ Brown before it was announced.

Also this situation w/ Kareem feeling disrespected. I'm really worried Jim's lack of class is going to adversely effect the Lakers. Rich kids grow up spoiled and w/out manners. It appears Jim Buss is that kid.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

I'm new to the board, but this is the first and last time you all will see me showing this side. As for Jim Buss, I hate him and I hope he dies from a long painfully slow death so I can deliver him to hell in a darn hand basket myself...that is all

Little bit harsh, but I know exactly how you feel.

Remember the man does have 4 ECF'S appearances & 1 Finals appearances with LeChoke & a bunch of misfits. Now he has Kobe & a supporting cast.

Shaw's complaints about the Lakers would not be as bad had someone else (Lester) not done the same thing around the same time.

Player or coaches get too comfortable, So when there easy life is taken fom them. They get mad and have to complain. Lets see. 5 championships in 10 years. What more do they want.

It might be just me, but I hear this and just think "sore loser."
