McRoberts is a lot better than he's given credit for and has matured a great deal since his days at Carmel and Duke. I have no idea why the Pacers did not offer him to stay home in Indiana, but the Pacers loss is the Lakers gain. Most of what Josh provides on a basketball court can not be measured in stats. No, he's not the greatest low post defender and rarely does he look to score offensively, but he brings everything else you'd want in a player. He is without question one of the best passing bigs in the game, a great help side defender, good at disrupting the passing lanes, constant movement without the ball offensively in working to get other teammates open, solid rebounder, has a developing shot, great ball handling big, hustles, athletic, tough, and an incredibly high basketball IQ.
As long as he stays right in the head and continues to mature as a player (VERY immature at Carmel and Duke) while not getting so down on himself, he can become one of the top glue guys in the league. Again, I am incredibly disappointed the Pacers decided not to resign McRoberts given their need for a big, what he brings on the court, and him being a hometown kid.
