Watching March Madness. I bet the Lakers will regret trading both the #1 picks. They could have add 2 young players to there bench and have them under control for 3 years. Jordan Hill was the #9 over all pick, hope they get some use out of him. Yes the Lakers saved money. But time will come when Kobe is no longer here and those young picks could have been the next generation of Lakers.

I love that we got a solid point guard in Sessions but I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed with the fact that we didn't get Beasely. I think with a scoring punch like Beasely off the bench we would have been a heavy favorite over a bunch of teams. Right now I see us on the same level as a lot of teams.

I think you're right about Beasley putting us over the top but I think we're the better team now with Sessions.

regret getting a player that is around the 20th pick who they will have to sacrifice around 3 mil for and might not turn out to be anything until maybe 3 years from now? the lakers dont have time to develop young players as kobe only has a few more years left and sessions is a better player now then any player they could have drafted

Not really, the Dallas pick is controlled by them for 6 years max, if it's top 20. Best case scenario is the Cavs hope the Mavs win games.....only way they get that pick this year.

Actually the Rockets got the Mavs' pick from the Odom deal, the Cavs got our pick. I agree with what you said though, that pick is so heavily protected that there's a good chance the Rockets either don't see it for a few years or it ends up being in the early to mid 20s, and unless you roll the dice and end up with a late 1st round steal (when TBH those types of guys should be taken in the 2nd round) the best they should really be hoping for is a solid role player type at best.

Another way to look at it is the $3.5m + luxury tax that we save from not having to pay Fish ad the money saved from not having to pay a 1st rounder his guaranteed money for two years can go towards re-upping with one of our better role players like Barnes next summer. I'd much rather that money go towards an actual contributor like Matt in the form of a $3m-$4m/2-3yr deal than Fish that's for damn sure.

+1 Without a doubt. The most important thing is that the Lakers finally upgraded at the point guard spot which is something we have wanted to see for quite some time now. If there was anyone move that needed to be done, a trade for a point guard was the one.

I wanted us to go for Howard, and we did. That is all.

If we win the chip, I'm sure we can live with it. It's a gamble that we hope will pay off. At the end of the day, the team is better right now than it was before and saved the Buss family money. Besides, out scouting team is not as good as it was before. We probably would have drafted some duds, but never know until 2 or 3 years later.

Yes because if you break it down position by position we would have had multiple options on the floor at all times which keeps the pressure on opposing teams
