If he could be had at cheap, this locker room presence and heart would be valuable to the team.

I've always been a big Ronny fan so I'll try and be objective but I see no reason no to get him if we can for dirt cheap.
Ronny is a good blend of our 2 current back ups meaning he's better than Murphy's defense and McBob's offense plus he's a helluva good passer and solid on the pick and roll (was great with Felton in NY). He and Sessions could be a great combo and he would be much better next to Pau as a back up when Bynum sits.

I'm sorry but if anyone tries to argue Murphy's "ability to spread the floor" to me can save their breath. His defense gives up more points than he ever scores and his rebounds are rarely tough one's. Ronny's rebound stats have always been low because he was often boxing out bigger opponent to allow a teamate to grab the board.

I say get em!

Buy Murphy out and sign Turiaf. Otherwise we'd have too many bigs.

Loved his effort and attitude but F no

He was a liability here in the last postseason he played with the team. He could not grab a rebound to save his life. He could not hit shots or make teams pay. And his athleticism has only gotten worse since then.

For crying out loud we have Josh McRoberts and Jordan Hill under contract and on the roster, and people want to sign a SIXTH big...when we just cut Fish for cap reasons? Come on man.

We need someone to take Luke's spot. So either Ronny or Mclongsocks is fine.

He is not coming back!
Why would we want or need him?
There is a reason he got waived!
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;

RT is a nice player. Not the most gifted player. We need to see what Hill has to offer. Ronnie is 29 and Hill is 24. So the upside is with Hill. Got to give Hill a few games to learn the offense. With the bigs we have. Hill might not be here next year. He was the 8th over all pick, so he must have some skills. Ronnie was a second rounder when he was drafted by the Lakers.

Turiaf reminds me of Ariza in that Lakers fans remember the highs and have blocked out the lows. Ariza was a decent hustle player who to our great fortune decided to go HAM from 3 point land in the '09 playoffs but wasn't a great long term solution. Turiaf was part of our bench mob who was amazing for about 75% of the '08 season before having what may have been the worst playoff run I've ever seen a player with his minutes ever have. He was averaging less than 2pts a game and was sub-injured Luke Walton bad. His stints from other teams have shown that he was more likely a fluke in'08 than in bad situations elsewhere.

Troy Murphy is horrible and his defense is even more horrible. I don't even remember seeing Hill play so I won't comment on him. But McRoberts cannot do anything, and I mean absolutely anything. Turiaf would give us a stronger post presence with his bigger body and solid defense.

McRoberts and Turiaf are incredibly similar in terms of how they play and what they can do. In fact while a lot of folks were quick to nickname him "McRambis" at the start of the season Josh is much more similar to Turiaf. Both guys are H&E bigs, fairly athletic, have a decent midrange game, play decent D, can get out and run and are solid in P&Rs. The biggest difference between the two TBH is that one guy is white and the other is black.

Where's this mid-range game of McRoberts? Because I haven't seen it all the while he's been in a Lakers jersey.

That's kind of tough for him to do in LA given that he's only recently found his way back into the rotation, still plays limited minutes and never has a play run for him. He can hit the open mid-range J, but he rarely takes those as he's often looking to get the ball to someone else who has a higher percentage look. If the open jumper is all that's there however, he'll take it. He hit them at a decent clip in Indy, it's just that here in LA we have other guys who are better at putting the brown in the round and thus Josh is relegated to mostly clean up duty around the rim.
