No one is bringing up our poor front line Def. Last 2 games

Post#1 » by Leor_77 » Tue Mar 20, 2012 8:12 pm

I'm surprised no one has talked about how bad our defense was against Minnesota and Utah. I don't even want to put the numbers on here because it's kind of depressing, but I think that you could say that even with good games from Pau/Drew, both front lines played better than ours.

Now, obviously, some of this has to do with the quality of those teams' front lines, but it is a little bit disturbing to see when you are supposed to have the best front line in the league. I think Drew is a great asset on defense, but am kind of iffy on Pau, at the moment. I know he had some big blocks for us, but it seems like his only asset on defense is his length. He really was owned by Milsap/Pek/Favors/etc.

Moving to our bench, it's even more depressing: I don't know how Murphy is 6'11, because when he's out there, he seems like he's 6'4 with how easily people score on him - Almost like an automatic bucket when he's guarding the opposing player; McRoberts is slightly better, but not by too much - He's a little stronger and has more energy, but I feel is still a liability on defense. Even though it is widely known that Jordan Hill is a poor defender, as well, I really hope he surprises us and does better than McBob/Murphy.

We have weaknesses on our team, (although slightly less with RS) so I feel the front line is a position that we really need to be dominating, both offensively and defensively, if we're going to go far this year.

Settle down, it's not your fault.

Pekovic is the steal of the draft. 2 years and he'll be much better than Bynum, he's more dynamic, shoots free throws. Pekovic and Love are a tough one to handle when Love basically outrebounds your entire bigs combined.

Jazz front is huge, even if their leading scorer was out for the game and they rely on young kids with sparse playing time. Millsap is way bigger than 6'7" as listed. That's why he always pwns Pau.

Yeah, the Jazz need Ramon Sessions to put them over the top lol

I want to play Lakers in first round. We both have no point guards before trade deadline but you had a stud winner DEREK Fisher. Now it's no point guards wash and Jazz deep bench to pound out the W's. Excellent chance for second round Jazz.

BTW, Sessions trade was excellent except giving away Fisher for free. No reason to give up the best player in the deal, but dumping Walton's never ending contract was more genius move.

WHAT?! PEKOVIC will be better than Bynum? Wow. You are trippin or don't know anything about basketball. Either way, you're wrong.

Murphy hasn't been that terrible on defense lately. Shocking, I know.

Our front line definitely did not play defense well in the last 2 games, but at least they made up for it with their offensive contributions. I love Kobe, but shooting a combined 13 for 47 is inexcusable.

Bingo. I wish people would stop trying to shift the blame. Our last 4 losses belong to Kobe. While there are certainly other factors, his garbage shooting has been the primary reason that we haven't put together a double-digit win streak.

Our defense has never really been all that fantastic anyway. It's above average overall, but it's not in the same league with teams like the Heat and Bulls.
