The point is that Kobe isn't ever this streaky/bad at shooting. He's never been this bad at 3s. That has nothing to do with Kobe's 16 years.. it's new. Something is wrong, either mentally (gunning for scoring titles), physically (old) or whatever.
Don't pretend it's just Kobe being Kobe, because that is a disservice to him if you say that this is the shooter and scorer we've been watching for years.
And in case you guys didn't know, Kobe's FG% is the worst since the 90s, both his FG% and 3pt% are the 3rd worst of his career, and his eFG% and TS% are the #1 worst of his career. Don't mock Kobe by saying this is how he's always been.
My dude, I don't think any one here with a coherent thought is doubting the statistics you are
presenting. The " Kobe is Kobe " argument, I believe, is from a behavioral one.
Sure Kobe has the highest usage rate and his shooting percentages are the worst. Your statistics don't however take into account how bad the lakers offense has been this year and due to personnel changes on and off the court, Kobe has been playing the role of facilitator and scorer/closer. It's alot of duties to fulfill when you have been in the league for 16 years.
Behaviorally Kobe is Kobe, his overconfidence fuels his drive for success as well as his undying belief that the next shot will fall in. It's the same pursuit that has made him so succesful. maybe he is indeed gunning for the shooting title or maybe he isn't. you can continue to speculate all you want. I
personally think people are making a big deal out of nothing.
We now have a legitimate pg that can run our offense and now Kobe is adjusting. Sure he has been playing terribly as late but I genuinely don't think it's going to continue. It's been a statistically bad season and this reflects a tumultuous shortened season filled with profound change and we are near the top of the west because of Kobe's contributions albeit statistically poor contributions. There are far too many reactionary statistical arguments and not enough qualitative. Let's not pretend this isn't a work in progress for the entire lakers organization this year. Poor shooting or not Kobe still makes defenses adjust and makes it easier for the rest of the team. And yes Kobe shoots too much. But Kobe is kobe
