A petition to fight flopping

Post#1 » by SteveDobbs » Sun Apr 29, 2012 4:55 pm

As a Bulls fan trying to find things to do with myself besides suicide, I decided to start a Change.org petition against flopping in the NBA.

All it took was 300,000 signatures on this site for Bank of America to drop their $5 debit card fee.

If you think, as I do, that flopping is ruining the game, go on there and sign the petition. It takes five seconds. In a couple hours with nothing other than posting on the general board here I have a handful of signatures.

Stern and the NBA obviously don't have to listen to Jeff Van Gundy, but maybe with enough people voicing their displeasure, they'd have to take the issue seriously and look at doing something, anything about it.

Mods feel free to lock if you don't want this on your team's board.

I don't think this type of petitions work on Stern. I think if the media stood up to Stern and asked ballsy questions about it in a constant basis the the fans would really make a huge stink on national level only then Stern would do something about it.

So what you're saying, snaq, is that JVG is our only hope? :o

(I'm all for putting an end to this flopping, by the way. When flagrants start being called on fairly obvious flops, something needs to be done).

Well, this is pointless. You can't make Stern enforce a rule that doesn't have definitive standards for what flopping is. And there are different degrees of exaggeration to which flopping happens. It's a disaster waiting to happen, especially since we have Kobe and Pau on our team.

Is it too obvious if I sign it as Blake Griffen?
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

Nah, now if you spelled his name right, THEN it would be too obvious.

Flopping is part of the game. Tricking the REF is a smart thing. What do you think DRIVING in and DRAWING a foul means. That's a flop in essence. But it's highly praised for a reason.

Every single sport "TRICKING" the ref is the natural part of the game. You do what you can, it's within the rules.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
