Bynum Too Bulky/Heavy. Should drop weight & retain strength.
Isn't this obvious?? Bynum is bulkier/heavier and his movements look sluggish.
He is asking for another leg injury carrying this extra weight.
Looks very top/torso-up heavy. His moves are not quick & forceful.
He sometimes looks like he is laboring to make the trip up court.
Does anyone else see this?
Why don't the trainers work with him to achieve a more lean/slim upper body
that retains strength, especially considering his history of leg injuries.
Maybe its the results of a strike shortened/condensed schedule where extra
conditioning time is not available. Hope he doesn't get a leg injury from
carrying the extra weight.

There have been plenty of great centers who weren't in the best shape in the world. Comparing all the current centers to someone like Dwight Howard would be unfair as he is a one of a kind physical specimen. Can Bynum afford to get in better shape? Yes. Does he need to to become successful? Not necessarily. What Bynum lacks that really hurts his progress to be one of the greats is his maturity and passion. I feel as if he already thinks he should be entitled after his first true successful all-star season. He has the ability to truly change the game with his defense but only does so when he's motivated by getting the ball in the paint.

Then maybe he really needs a better basketball mentor working more closely with him.
What happened with Kareem Abdul Jabar's working with Bynum??
Why did that formalized mentoring end??
Who else would be good for Bynum in that role?

Kareem was diagnosed with leukemia, but no he's not heavier, he stated he lost 12% body fat & gained more muscle but his weight is exactly the same 285

I don't know, Drew's always been a little awkward, physically. He's always used his length to reach for baskets. Never was like Shaq who was just a freak - he got all that size and all that coordination. Bynum will always be just a little slow, gangly, long. Just his biomechanics. What's interesting is comparing him to McGee - McGee is surprisingly quick, explosive and coordinated for his size. Plays like a small forward. Compare Jordan Hill to Gallinari, two players with similar size but move completely different. Just the roll of the dice.
But I don't think you can blame Bynum's struggles this year on physical problems.
Biggest problems are up there and in here.

30 rebounds vs spurs and 10 blocks in playoffs, his body looks good to me. Its amazing the topics thats created after a few loses.

he doesn't need to lose weight. he runs slow up and down the court because he has no passion to win, he doesn't G.A.F

There is nothing wrong with Bynum's physical. Everything wrong with him right now is pure mental and will to do.
