Re: Who do you want back next season?
i love this team and ihonestly dont think anyone should get traded (except barnes). i love the fact we got twin towers in side protecting the paint playing volleyball with one another. But it would take a great coach to utilize them properly, something mike brown is not. And being how the Fo will keep Mb it only makes sense to acquire players that will work in Mb's system
So...
Barnes has to go, gambles way too much reaching and cant hit an open shot to save his life
pau needs to get traded for a young pg
ubanks should get package alongside pau
Mcroberts need to go to make room for beasley
Session can go unless Fo is comfortable paying him as a back up otherwise we keep blake
hill is our new starting pf along with bynum or
bynum for howard or nothing
murphy is dropd
Mwp is safe

Re: Who do you want back next season?
I would make that trade for Dwight even without the extension, worst-case scenario you rebuild in one year which you will be doing regardless and honestly I'm not that impressed with Bynum. The lakers should be hesitant about the money long-term. The only guys who really make it worth your while to give that kind of cash to in this league are players like Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant (who is overpaid), Kevin Durant and players of that ilk. I don't give a guy who for seven years in the league hasn't shown the kind of maturity necessary of a franchise player to give that kind of money. I understand that Dwight is a bitch, but he plays hard and I'd rather take the chance of getting him and losing him then being saddled with this incredibly bitchy unmotivated baby for six-seven years. **** that.

On another note:
Sessions+Pau for Lowry+Scola would be perfect for what L.A. needs. Then sign Gerald Green, amnesty Metta and move on with that.

Scola is more done than Pau, and Sessions is a UFA

Re: Who do you want back next season?
Scola also has a brutal contract too. If we trade Pau, we either have to get a player back who can step in and fill his role (ex- Josh Smith, Noah, etc) or to a team with a large amount of cap space where we can get a few players to help with our depth and also knock off some pay roll.
Kevin Ding actually suggested signing Kevin Garnett to a mini MLE free agent contract and then trade Pau for a couple good pieces to help the bench and our depth. Now, would KG sign for that little?

Re: Who do you want back next season?
I'd love to get Garnett for the mini MLE. My ideal offseason is we sign Garnett, resign Sessions and Hill, and trade Gasol in a deal to get Derrick Williams. That team would be very deep with a good mix of youth and veterans
Sessions/Blake
Bryant/Goudelock
MWP/Williams
Garnett/Hill
Bynum

There's no way KG won't get better offers than a mini MLE especially the way he's been playing so far.

Re: Who do you want back next season?
Off-season moves: Fire Mike Brown and hire a coach with more of a motion offense (Jerry Sloan?), trade Bynum for Howard, use the TPE before it expires for Beasley, sign Odom with the vet min, extend Sessions, pick up Nash with the mini MLE (or realistically sign West), and acquire more shooters (Allen?!!) and uptempo players through trades or vet mins. Keep the contracts short so the 2014 cap space isn't ruined.
Howard / Gasol / Hill
Gasol / Odom
Artest / Beasley
Kobe / Shooter / Glock
Nash (West) / Sessions / Shooter
Pipedream yes, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Re: Who do you want back next season?
keep KB24, Pau, MWP, and GLock
trade Bynum for something. He has the most value and is clearly not a championship level player. No fight. Try to attach McRoberts and/or Blake to the trade.
Sessions can exercise his option or not, either way is fine. He is probably worth 4.5M but just barely.
Try to resign Hill at 4M or less.
Say good-bye to Barnes, Murphy, Ebanks and Morris

Re: Who do you want back next season?
Keep: Kobe, MWP, Bynum(unless for Dwight), Hill, Sessions(unless he wants over 5-6 mill a year anything more is overpaying), Ebanks, and Glock
Trade: Pau
Cut loose: Barnes, Murphy, and McRoberts
And I say keep Ebanks because he's going to be cheap and he's a hard worker so I wouldn't be surpised if he's even better after the summer.

Re: Who do you want back next season?
I wouldn't sign Hill.. just yet. Sure he showed up for us, but honestly it was a VERY small sample. He doesn't deserve it yet. Matt Barnes played better in longer stretches last season and eventually he didn't pan out.
I'm a big Hill fan as well, not hard considering Mr. Bynum antics, but he really needs to earn it before we invest in him. We're tight on money as is.
I want a shooting guard. Not shannon brown type, but like a trevor ariza that can SHOOT.
I don't know what to do with Pau and Bynum to be honest. Sad day today but i'm hopeful.

Keepers:
Kobe
Hill (off the bench)
Sessions (off the bench)
Metta (Off the bench)
Those are the guys I'd want in those roles. Everyone else can go. Gasol has flamed out and Bynum doesn't have the right attitude. But I think in reality one of the bigs will be back.

Re: Who do you want back next season?
If we get rid of either Bynum or Gasol, is there any way we go after Paul Millsap? He's unrestricted next year, or maybe Jazz goes for sign and trade for one of our bigs. He's a guy who plays good D and can shoot that midrange jumper. Keep Bynum or Gasol, and we have a guy in the center too. Hill of the bench means suddenly we can run with the fast teams while still having that big guy in the center when necessary.

Re: Who do you want back next season?
In a perfect world, I would only bring back the guys that give consistent EFFORT on this team; Ron, Kobe and Jordan Hill.
I could probably also add Steve Blake as a shooter/back-up PG. If we can't upgrade at PG, I would bring Sessions back, but ask him to play his own game. I like Matt Barnes a lot, but he gave us nothing in this series - or in last year's POs (I know he was/is hurt).
I think you have to look at trading Andrew first. If not, we should be shopping Pau. I would be happy for Pau to come back and play C, if Bynum is traded.

Re: Who do you want back next season?
Here's a look at our salary situation: http://hoopshype.com/salaries/la_lakers.htm
Players on contract: Kobe, Gasol, World Peace, Blake, McRoberts, Eyenga
Team option: Bynum, Hill, Glock
Player option: Sessions
Qualifying offer: Morris
Off the books: Barnes, Murphy, Ebanks
I expect the Lakers to exercise all three team options. We obviously need some changes and our main assets are the two bigs. Even though Gasol is older, I'd prefer to keep him over Bynum. We went to 3 straight finals with him and his game is built to age gracefully. He was used improperly under Mike Brown's system. With Andrew gone, he should be able to dominate once again. If we add in Bynum's health, poor attitude, lack of fire, and his all time high trade value, this is an easy choice. Trade him for Howard or multiple young pieces.
Eyenga and Mcroberts are going to be expiring contracts so I would package them with Bynum.
I would match Sessions for anything under 5 million. Blake is inconsistent but at least he plays with max effort every game. I would only dump him if we find a PG better than Sessions and keep Sessions as the backup point. Even then, his contract may be difficult to move.
We should keep Glock at all cost right now because he can develop and he's cheap!
So that leaves: Kobe, Gasol, World Peace, Blake, Hill, Sessions, and Glock.
The number one focus this off-season should be acquiring speed (youth) and better outside shooting. There's a lot of change we can do with Bynum, the expiring contracts of Eyenga and Mcroberts, and the TPE.

Re: Who do you want back next season?
If the Lakers were so fervently interested in Beasley earlier this off-season I don't see why they won't go after him again. He's an interesting player, someone that if he starts and bulks up a bit to play PF would easily average 20 ppg and make Ibaka irrelevant at least at the PF spot.
