Happy Birthday to him!
I think he is a great GM and I can say I've been in his corner all along...
Many probably don't recall his contributions as a player. I remember Celtics Coach KC Jones saying Kupchak's defense and rebounding was one of the big reasons the Lakers defeated the Celtics in 1985. It was the Lakers first breakthrough against their hated rivals.
He was also a dominant college player with North Carolina and was on their All - 70s Team with Sports Illustrated. His NBA career was not what it could have been, as chronic knee problems essentially made him a role player.
Hope he stays with the Lakers despite other team's interests and things break well for him in retooling the Lakers this offseason.
