i have a meeting with the Lakers today

we discussed mainly the business side of basketball for the Lakers, meaning the process of corporate partnerships/sponsorships and how it affects the business day to day.

went over in detail the plans for a mobile strategy that should be in place within the next 24 months.

the reason it is delayed is because of the lockout, which really affected resources the team had not knowing where there would be a season or not.


also, really randomly, we discussed how the Jack In the Box tacos scheme came up, and how Lakers fans were responsible for it blossoming (WE WANT TACOS chant).

he mentioned a job opening to me, but I don't think it's a good fit for me. since there is low turnover at the Lakers, i'd be in the same position for a long number of years.

that would be fine if i was on the basketball operations side, but alas, that is not the case. i'm doing great where i'm at and would rather grow with the company i work for now.

the guy i spoke to started as an intern at the Forum, and his next role was overseeing the Lakers Girls (which sounded awesome) before moving into the corporate side of the Lakers. he's been with the team for over 25 years.

we discussed a lot more but i doubt it would be of interest to you guys (just boring business stuff).
