To say a guy is an undersized two is to ignore the glut of undersized two's in this league. Nobody here thinks he's going to be a star, but he can be a contributor if used correctly.
And you were expecting that as a rookie?. Read my previous post, i feel dude can carve a niche out for himself in the league, but i just think some were expecting just a little too much from him in his 1st yr
He was already a gamer. Kobe doesn't just give out nicknames after himself, he usually doesn't even discuss rookies. To me "gamer" means a guy that can compete without fear holding him back, a basketball player. Derek Fisher was a gamer. Jordan Farmar had the potential to be, leading UCLA in that Finals game when everyone else looked too scared of the moment. However gamers need to be nurtured, they need to grow. PJ botched Farmar's development, IMO, and Mike Brown seemed to do that with Goudelock this season.
Was he a rookie? Yes. Is he undersized? Absolutely. But does he have more skill and confidence than the majority of our roster? To me, yeah.
It was clear that we needed firepower off the bench all season. We also desperately needed shooters to free up our bigs. He should've been used, rather than stunting his growth. I don't even think he would have succeeded necessarily, but that failure is part of the learning process and you can't learn if you don't get your reps.
