Green is interesting no question. He played incredibly good down the stretch for the Nets at SF. That said I don't think there's a tremendous difference between him at SG vs. SF as this offense features both primarily in the corners. I had somewhat forgotten about him but he's got more to his developing game than Young does. Mitch mentioned he'd look at him again.

What kind of contract would he get?

it's been reported that Lakers would want to keep the core intact, or is this another diversion to keep a low profile while pursuing Dwight?

Green would be interesting though he may cost more. the idea of Terrence Williams is also intriguing since I think he won't demand a lot.

and yo destro, Raptors making a play for Lowry, Lin accepted a deal from the Rockets but NY will be matching, Kidd to NY, Calderon now amnestied. looks like Sessions is on his way back bro. :P

I'm buying into the idea that trading one of our bigs would make the other play better/more consistently. Time to revisit Pau for Iguadala? Sign Andrei Kirilenko, as suggested in another thread? Then Dwight Howard for Bynum would simply be icing on the cake. I'll leave it off my hypothical starting 5 for argument's sake, but think about how stupidly dominant and balanced that would be.

Nash
Kobe
Iguadala
Kirilenko
Bynum

That's a lineup that not only matches up well with the best Thunder/Heat lineups, but also poses threats in places where they're weak. Come on, lets keep building the buzz!

Gotta think we're gonna cut salary somehow.

That is, quite simply, the realest thing written in this thread. Realer than dirty "drawers". And we all know there's nothing realer than a pair of dirty "drawers".

I digress.

I'm a lot like worthy in that, before Nash, I was completely indifferent with getting Howard, but now I think he's much needed for his defense in shielding Nash. I'm pretty sure he's coming, knowing that Kobe will close games at the end, but Nash will decide who gets the ball for the other 47 minutes.

I have no idea who'd be included in a Howard deal, but, like Tyler said, I know that the Lakers will deliberately try to shave salary in any deal.

The best way to unload Blake, McRoberts, and Eyenga (the only three contracts that I consider to be wasted money) is to include them in a trade involving Bynum and/or Gasol.

I think both Bynum and Gasol should be traded.

Bynum for Howard (and possibly a swap of W.Peace and J.Richardson---can't see Orlando or the Lakers taking back anyone else).

Gasol (and the above wasted contracts) jettisoned for players not as good as Gasol, but able to fill a few valuable holes.

Rather those holes be shooting, or PG defense, or athleticism, or depth, or backup C and PG, it doesn't matter as long as these players can fill as many holes as possible ... I'm thinking those guys are Iguodala and Brand/Vucevic, but it could be any number of players as long as the trading partner is able to take back Gasol and "the deadweights" and also enable the Lakers to shave money---Phila appears to be the best, most logical option, as many have already stated.

Sixer fans are more than willing to accept it, Laker fans see Gasol as more valuable than Iguodala (and their right), but when you consider that trading Gasol saves money, allows the floor to be opened up for Nash/Kobe/Howard, and gives the team a legit player (Iguodala) who can provide athleticism and relieve Nash of the defensive responsibilities of guarding Westbrook, Parker, Paul, etc, the deal makes definite sense.

The way I see it, and Tyler said it much more succinctly than me, the Lakers need to sign about three contributing guys for the minimum while dumping the salaries of Eyenga, McRoberts, and Blake.

The only way I can see them having the ability to trade these deadweights, while still getting better and more balanced, is to dump Gasol ... and we all should be cool with that if it means the Lakers will be able to free up even the most minimal amounts of money to sign a few minimum guys that can actually contribute to this team (I'm thinking two shooting PFs---Jamison and Lewis, and an athletic swingman who can shoot, if W.Peace is still here---Pietrus/Cartier Martin/CJ Miles, or an athletic swingman who can be a utility/glue guy---Grant Hill or Ebanks, if W.Peace is sent for J.Rich).

My two cents.

Were the 1st rounders in the Nash trade protected at all? If not this trade will look really bad in 2015 when Nash and Kobe are gone and we're a lottery team :(
