Shaw Withdraws From Magic Coaching Search
July 15 at 3:15pm CST By Michael Pina

Brian Shaw has withdrawn his name from the Magic's ongoing search for a head coach, tweets SI.com reporter Sam Amick. The news comes on the heels of a report from The Chicago Tribune that the Pacers had granted Shaw permission to speak with the Trail Blazers this weekend.

Shaw spent last season as an assistant coach in Indiana, and the previous few seasons on the Lakers bench beside Phil Jackson. He's widely regarded as one of the league's most promising assistants—he also interviewed for the Bobcats open position earlier this summer, but that job went to Mike Dunlap.

Damn, I was hoping he'd become the coach of the Magic to increase the chances of a Bynum/D12 deal.

I'd love to have him back as an assistant coach. That ship has sailed though.

I'm glad he did, I hope when B-Shaw gets his first job it's the right one.

It's too bad that BShaw has had to wait so long to be a head coach.
No doubt he is capable and it's just a matter of time.
Sounds like Portland is a possibility.
Good luck to BShaw.

Heard he had a bad interview with them. Also had a bad interview with the Lakers before. He needs to learn how to interview for jobs.

How could he have had a bad interview with the Lakers? He'd worked for the organization for like, 10 years before then :(

Jimmy Buss had negative commits about the Triangle, the way Phil Jackson coached such as not calling time outs and not being an animated coach, etc.

Shaw was left to defend how they have been so successful under Phil. Phil even prepared Shaw that management was going in a different direction.

And due to other examples like Jim Cleamons and Kurt Rambis brightly failing to instill the Triangle in Dallas and Minnesota, the Triangle isn't popular to have in this league unless Phil Jackson his the head coach. And having superstar talent on the roster would help too.
