What is Bynum Worth?

Mitch has come out and said that they are working on extending Bynum http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/22 ... z20iwcWiPJ.

If this all ends and we are left Dwightless, how much is Bynum worth and how long of a contract? 5 years ~95M, 4 years?

he'd get 5 years and 98million if he resigns. Not sure what the max is for an extension though. either way it's the max.

Not sure if I understand the whole "max" concept. Brook Lopez got a max deal of 4yr/60 mil how is Bynum deal a max 5yr/98

lopez, along with guys like eric gordon and roy hibbert are only eligible for rookie scale extensions, since they're just coming off of their rookie scale contracts.

bynum is eligible for a veteran extension, since he's coming off of a contract that wasn't his rookie scale deal.

There is a maximum yearly salary (% of cap) based on the number of years in the league. Also the new Derrick Rose Rule allows players coming off of rookie contracts a higher max than usual if certain conditions are met (mvp/multiple allstars/multiple all nba first teams).

I'll be so happy if we can keep Bynum, I want Howard less and less every day, Bynum is a better offensive player and when he tries he's a beast on defense to, 3 years of Nash, Kobe, Pau and Bynum will be awesome.
