There is a legit argument for Kobe if he can play 40 mins a game like he used to but Dwight is the only player on the roster that can take that kind of a load consistently and still not evaporate into thin air when the playoffs come around.

and 2 votes for Metta Peace, seriously, WTF like?

Yes. And I'm already gouging my eyes out imagining him going 1-on-4 while Steve Nash stands out at the 3-point line waving his arms.

Since it says TEAMS!!!!!!! best player I'd have to go with Nash.

I don't think that will happen. Offensively, Kobe >>> Dwight. But Kobe needs to let Nash control the offense. Nash will create better shots for him. Like the other poster said, catch and shoot Kobe is beauty. Dwight will take care of our defense.

I want to see this:

Nash - Creator/Leader
Kobe - Offensive focal point/Leader
Metta - Defense and some occasional threes
Pau - The glue guy. Operate in the post when Dwight is out.
Dwight - Defensive anchor. Rebound (offensive/defensive)
Jamison - Spark off the bench. Leader of the second unit (along with Pau)
Meeks - Sharp shooter
Hill - Energy Guy

It doesn't matter if Kobe is better offensively. I'm talking about feeding Dwight, and playing an inside out game. The mentality that the offense goes through Dwight, and Kobe will get open looks and easy baskets off an inside out game played through Dwight as our #1, is the mentality that will win it for us. If kobe plays thinking he has to make a play on his own or be the #1 guy, than we aren't winning anything.

I do agree that the best Impact player would have to be Howard on any team.

Do you realize Sasha Vucacic did this for us in the finals in 2010? Not only did he ice the game, or the series, but he iced an NBA championship with 2/2 free throws. Heck maybe Sasha was the best player in the NBA that season! Really, I am just not sure why hitting two free throws to ice a game makes someone our best player.

Really, Kobe is our best player? If someone offered us Lebron and we had to give up either Kobe or Dwight, who would you give up? Lets pretend that magically next year, the lineup would go back to Kobe, so you needn't consider youth or the future. It would be for just this year. Think about that for awhile.

Kobe is critical to our team and still one of the best in the game, but I don't think playing our offense like he's the best is going to win us a title.

Seriously, there will always be delusional Laker fans it's almost embarrassing. The other day, I was listing off the top 5 players in the league, and I said it was LeBron, Dwight/Durant, CP3 then Kobe. It was like blasphemy, NO WAY could Kobe be worse then LeBron or Dwight. Get real guys Kobe is 33/34 years old. At this point in his career DH12 is by far the better player, in every aspect, even on offense he's WAY more efficient. Kobe still a top 5 player, but get real guys.

I love that we can now debate who our best player is. When the Lakers lost to okc in the playoffs it was obvious Kobe needed help. He left it all on the line getting 42 points while everyone else was not close at all. Pau n Bynum were suppose to be Kobe's help but they would fail to show up to games sometimes. Lebron has wade and bosh and Durant has Westbrook and harden who all could take over games. Now Kobe has Dwight and Nash. Now he truly has his help. Players who won't fail to show up. They will play big. I also thought Pau's head wasn't there bcuz of all the trade rumors. He should have a great season. last season was just a bad year no pg no bench no shooting and we still managed to give okc a fight. I can't wait until the season starts now we have a complete team

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
