Agree with sedale and most people on here. I do think Kobe will fall in line as long as he's not constantly given the ball to create something. I feel Kobe is this guy:

Frankie Four Finger's gambling addiction is just like Kobe's shot addiction. Plan is to keep him far and away from those games or else... snatch!

I don't even like the concept of "options," as related to any concrete hierarchy. In that regard, there should only be one option -- give the ball to Steve Nash and let him run the offense.

Do not like Political Pau.... I heart Spanish National Pau...

This! I always felt like that sometimes he tends to play his role according to a pre-set pecking order of a team. On ESP national, he's the backbone and he plays like a hero night in and night out. On the Lakers, he's the 2nd and 3rd option and that becomes his entire mindset. Be selfish Pau!!!!

I was gonna make a thread about exactly what Pau said, we need to forget about who's option 1,2,3,4 or whatever. Just put the ball in the hands of the man who's killing it that game. As long as we get the W.

I agree with Pau's comments, just play team basketball and all will be fine.

Interpretation: on this team, there should never ever - under any circumstances, be nights where Kobe goes 3-21. At some point, recognize its not your night. And let others take on the scoring load. Find other ways to make an imprint on the game.

That is a great way for a 4th option (or even 3rd option) to think.

Dwigh & Kobe options 1 and 2
Nash & Gasol options 3 and 4
MWP and bench catch and make the wide open shot.

Lakers should trade for Korver and bring back Kapono. Let's spread the floor for our key 4 guys.

Nash is still the best overall offensive player on the team, especially with bigs who fit perfectly with him like Howard and Gasol. And he'll have no problem feeding Kobe when he's hot.

You guys have an amazing team. I think this will go down as the best team in history, barring some sort of injury.

Yep yep.

I have to say, I'm really looking forward to seeing how Nash reacts when Kobe forces Artest or Pau to rotate so that he can post up in front of him and demand the ball.

I hope we don't see that, but it's inevitable.

Hopefully he'll curse him out with some well-chosen Canadian. I don't even really want to see Kobe posting up unless he's got a particularly juicy mismatch. Steve and Dwight on the pick-and-roll should be our first play every trip down, then go into the rest of your offense after that.

I acknowledge that I'm probably being too pessimistic about Kobe. The man is a lot of things, but he's not dumb. It's just, after seeing all those games over the years where he tried to smash a round peg through a square hole, there's always going to be a little bit of doubt in the back of my mind in regards to his mindset.
