Re: Raptors Intent on Pursuing Gasol
alright, so from reading the thread on the gb as well as on the ongoing thread on the raps board there seems to be a general consensus from both parties that the raptors don't have any good pieces whatsoever. the problem is those same people figure that we'll settle for bargnani + scraps and then have the nerve to call us spoiled when we decline. i for one have never seen such a big sense of entitlement from a culture that has done the smallest. apparently the rudy gay trade erases the fact that bryan coangelo is an idiot, now bryan can just go out and make any trade he wants. it's funny because as little as 5 days ago the tank nation was going strong, now apparently they're lakers east and can rip off teams as they see fit.
god forbid had chris bosh been the one to convince lebron and wade to join him in toronto. and i'm not even going to touch all the inaccurate things they're saying about pau all so they can boost bargnani, as if none of us knows not a lick of basketball.

I'm pretty sure our final offer will be something like Bargnani/Fields for Gasol and it doesn't sound like you guys have much interest in that offer.
really? you dont think we'd be interested in two of your worst players on awful contracts? what makes you think that?

Re: Raptors Intent on Pursuing Gasol
There's a disconnection between Raps management and their fans. If all they are willing to offer are their mistakes for Gasol than they wouldn't be set on acquiring Gasol.
Ask around to the rest of the 27 teams around the league, no one is taking them without Toronto packaging back someone else.

Re: Raptors Intent on Pursuing Gasol
for Gasol I'd be asking the Raptors to:
-give us a package of either of the 2 from Derozan/Ross/Anderson + **** Bargs + Lowry + Fields
-change that stupid Raptors print below the ring cause it's just annoying
-fire BC just for the lulz

Pau is back to being a 20 10 guy for us at the center again. We don't need to look at trades. We just got to convince dantoni to keep pau off the bench to sub in for Dwight when he is back.

He's a 20-10 all-around C and yet if even visit Minnesota or Toronto fans, he's arguably the worst player in the league. They'll lecture you on how expensive he is, not even taking account the fact that the contracts they'd send for him aren't even expiring contracts.
It's strange really. They say Knicks fans and Miami fans are the worst, but it's often times the teams with terrible histories that give the most horrible offers for Gasol.

we'd be the biggest MORONs of all time to destroy our 2014 cap situation for Barganini/Fields
, I use to think Bargs could be a decent stretch 4 for us but w/o Jose expiring contract its no longer worth it to take on Bargs.

It's rather amusing. I read all that on GB and it just made me scratch my head

Re: Raptors Intent on Pursuing Gasol
there is desperation and then there is stupidity. I can understand if Bargs was just a player that Tor doesn't see fit with their core but would absolutely kill it on another team like Pau was when he got traded from Mem. However Barg is not that type of player at all and if their "assest" add in is Fields it would be horrendously moronic, we'd be taking in 2 lesser players on long term contract for a guy thats bout to be a big expiring contract regardless of Pau recent play. It was appealing a bit when Calderon was available, at least he'd be a welcome addition on top of an expiring $10mill this season.

Only way I would have considered moving Pau is for some young guys on the cheap and a contract expiring in 2014. Calderon and junk wouldn't have made gotten us contenders. This season has been an epic failure. So in my eyes, no point delaying the inevitable.

Re: Raptors Intent on Pursuing Gasol
What an incompetently run franchise I gotta say. It would have been wise to unload and tank in hopes of landing Parker, Wiggins, Randle, Harrison etc. in next years draft and plan from there but no.
By trading for Gay they made it crystal clear they're hell bent on the playoffs or immediate improvement. The problem with that is Gay isn't a franchise guy and neither is anyone else on their roster. Ross and Valanciunas aren't prospects to get excited about. They may feel different but they just aren't.
They have a pretty large fanbase for a crap team organization so its odd how they never hold their management accountable for any of their mistakes that they make. Time and time again. Including this one. Its a mistake not lining up for next years draft just like it would have been a mistake if we weren't lining up for 2014's free agency crop.

The only way we can consider Bargs for Pau is if they're sending Derozan & a guard that will get minutes off the bench for us. D'antoni would love Bargs though.
