Lakers file complaint with NBA about hard fouls on Dwight

From Adi Joseph, USA Today:

Dwight Howard can’t play, but the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t going to sit there and take it. General manager Mitch Kupchak says the Lakers have filed a complaint with the NBA about hard fouls on Howard, who reinjured his right shoulder during a Jan. 30 loss to the Phoenix Suns. Howard has missed the Lakers’ two games since.
”There’s a protocol to airing opinions or complaints with the NBA. And we’ve done that,” Kupchak told the Los Angeles Times. “The game has evolved and like a lot of other sports where attention is now being given to protect players, the NBA is interested in doing so as well. I don’t know if they will review our concerns, but (hard fouls) have resulted in injury to one of our players.”

The move isn’t unprecedented, but it does reveal some concerns. Howard may be the strongest, most physically gifted player in the NBA, but that only allows teams to defend him harder. He’s not quite the immovable force of Shaquille O’Neal, but he similarly deals with overt aggression from defenders.

Acecardz being clamouring for this all season and got his wish. IMO wish they argue about the non calls Kobe is getting also.

Thoughts Fellas?

Maybe hopefully to start getting some calls? Guess management is trying the Mark Cuban complaining approach. Lets see how it goes. Cant hurt I guess

I doubt it does anything, but at least they are trying to do something about it.

To further show Dwight that the Lakers do care about him. That's about it.

ORL did this too and nothing changed. Van Gundy even got fined when he mentioned it in a press conference.
Originated from the nethermost, currently however, our entire squadron is now hither.

Just out of curiosity was the play where Howard aggravated his shoulder a foul? I thought whoever did it just came down hard on the ball while Howard was going up. The commentators were even talking about how it was the same motion that aggravated it before, someone coming down hard while he's trying to explode upwards. The opposing motions just strained him. Was there a foul on the play? I honestly can't remember.

sorry to come on your board but Dwight got his ass whooped his 8 years in orlando and nothing ever changed, the only reason its effecting him now is because of his surgery.

Sometimes you just got to put your big boy pants on and deal with it. I do not see kobe or nash crying about hard fouls out there.

Shaq first complained to the refs, and if they didn't change the calls, he started going after guys fouling him and when the ref called that, Shaq would tell them to do their job the first time and it wouldn't happen.

The league is different now... Everybody gets ejected at a drop of the hat, but when guys used to get chippy it always was blamed on the officials losing control...

We're probably in too much need of wins, but maybe the only way it gets fixed is if Dwight retaliates a few times. He'll surely get ejected and fined but at least he can tell why... Namely, "If the league and the Refs aren't going to protect me, I'm going to protect myself."

The league isn't going to do a dam thing.

Only way Howard will get respect is quit smiling like a dam kid play hard make his Freethrows and knock the next M.F out that hacks him like Shaq did. Howard needs to wake the fup and start ballin.
