But I'm not saying we should or will fire D'Antoni, but that's what Dwight supposedly wants, and nothing would go farther to deflect some of the pressure off of him at the same time it would also loudly place the Lakers support behind him.
And if they also went ahead and hired Phil Jackson, the coach Dwight supposedly wants, I bet a lot of people wouldn't even be that concerned if we didn't make the playoffs this season.
i think firing d'antoni for dwight would have the complete opposite effect. puts all the pressure on him, not off him.

In the long run, I think you're right but firing D'Antoni would be an overt statement that the FO agrees with and is committed to Dwight, and is basically writing off this season because of it. It would be a deflection for the present... Especially if they replaced him with PJ...
Next season though, the pressure would even be greater.
I don't think Dwight really wants to leave. I think he want's the lime-light and the extra money. But I don't think he wants to commit to the situation yet. I think that's all Nash and Kobe are asking from him...
But I think Dwight is used to and wants to be begged.
But until he commits, I think the pressure is just going to increase. I guess we'll see if he buckles or steps up.

Re: New Dwight Howard interview.
Kobe and Nash telling D-Ho to man up and play through pain
D-Ho firing back at Kobester saying "He's not a doctor"
Pau Gasol sulking on the corner, upset with being benched
Hill injured
Gasol injured
D'Antoni not getting things done
Kupchak being overridden by Jimboy
The whole drama about Phil
Lakers about to miss the playoffs
When will the drama end? When will they do the 'come to Jesus' moment?
