Most if not all contracts today with coaches have a double-dip clause. Meaning he won't be getting paid by the Lakers if he lands a new coaching job. He could sit back and not do anything and wait out the contract and get all his money. But yeah, if he leaves no money from the Lakers.

A smart financial decision by Brown though. We owe him roughly 9 mil and he goes for the 20 mil instead.

Fixed that for you.

Well better than Pringle's that's for sure. Lakers last's year was also a 50-51 win team.

That is excellent news, MDA's job is now a little less secure than it was yesterday.

It's a completely douche move and I would lose respect for the organization if they did it, but is it possible to assign a coach to coach the D-Fenders instead of the Lakers?

I can totally see MDA resigning in that case due to lack of respect. Again, I don't want it to happen but just curious if it were possible.

76ers are also interested in Mike Brown. Everyone must've realized that Mike Brown is perhaps, not a bad coach afterall, when this Lakers team continue to crumble despite a coaching change. Mike Brown was not the problem in the first place.

Again, I liked the direction he was going towards with a motion offense. The D would have come eventually and would have been better than what MDA can offer. The only think I questioned were his rotations.

I guess this means MDA is as good as gone before next season begins.

Mike Brown is a good defensive coach but isn't a X & O's coach, and trying to integrate a Princeton offense was a total disaster. In hindsight, we should've just stayed with the triangle...

I wonder what would have happened if we had simply stayed the course with Brown? What would have happened if the team had put as much effort into adapting to each other and the Princeton as they did with MDA and his hurry up (forget the D) offense?
I have a sneaking suspicion we'd be better off right now. Still not in a position to win it all, but a more formidable team.
Just a hunch... No way to really tell...

But the biggest complaint about Brown is he turned Nash into a spectator... Something that a lot of Laker fans are calling for right now (not me by the way).

Well, for one. Our injuries would probably be less. He managed kobe extremely well, comparatively, last year. Usage rate was low.

He could afford to manage kobe better last year with a playoff spot locked up. He would have had no such luxury this year. I think Kobe would have played the same amount. Don't forget Meeks was a bench burner with Brown. There was nobody to take those minutes besides Meeks so Brown would have done the same.

The Lakers still owe Mike Brown 9 million dollars for the next two years with the Cavs getting 8 over the next two which means that the Lakers will have to pay the difference of the two. Not a bad piece of luck for the Lakers

lets not forget that last yr was one of kobe's absolute worst yrs of his career, probably the worst. he put up allen iverson type of efficiency numbers.

The Phil question is going to come up in the summer. I'm guessing we'll ask him behind the scenes whether he wants the job and if he declines, we'll stick with MDA. The signing of Dwight and whether he wants Dantoni out or not will factor in too ofc.

Paying Phil isn't too bad considering you're paying your own family. What goes out of your pocket essentially comes back in.
