Been known this fact

Was kinda evident when they asked him back in 04, what happens when you hit a wall ... His reply was basically ill run right into and thru it

Jeanie Buss: @PhilJackson11 Phil, in regards to Kobe vs. MJ - KOBE IS THE BEST. My humble opinion. @kobebryant #Lakers

Phil Jackson: Listen friends of bball; don’t get hung up on words. I was most fortunate to have the chance to coach two of the greatest gds. EVER MJ/Kobe.

Open & candid, there were some very good points made.

I think it is important to note that Phil does appear to have had a better relationship with Michael than he ever had with Kobe. Whether that affects his ability to objectively assess their games, I cannot say, but I think it is interesting to read between the lines and pick that up.

One can go around in circles trying to pick apart the comments Phil made with respect to certain areas in their games, but the fact remains that from a competitive/drive standpoint, Kobe has been the closest in that regard to what we had in Jordan.

Phil should feel fortunate to have played a large role in the development of the best two "2" guards to have ever played the game.
Ball so hard.

Phil said one thing that was odd. He said Dantoni has never coached with an offensive structure that takes into account a bigman in the middle. Meaning that does not have the ability or cannot or he does not have the experience to do it.

Considering that Phil coached MJ when he was younger, and given MJs demeanor, followed by being an experienced already HOF-lock coach and Kobe being a young kid still when he arrived, it's safe to say the nature of both relationships is completely different.

Phil's a trip...

On one hand he seems to want back into the Lakers Org worse than a high-school kid want's his head-chearleader girlfriend back after she dumps him...
But on the other hand, everything he says seems to drive a bigger and bigger wedge between himself and the Lakers.
Which is kind of like what the High School kid would do too, I guess.

I get optimistic that Phil might be back and then he does this book tour and seems to be pissing on that idea. I think a reunion could be possible if he toned it down a notch or two and was a little more humble, but that just isn't Phil, apparently.

He sounds like he want's a place in a FO more so he can get his protege's jobs than anything else.

i saw a small clip on espn, and he described the difference pretty well. he said that when he started coaching MJ, phil himself was just starting off and treated MJ as a brother, that they talked about things they wanted to do. with kobe being 21, phil treated him like a son and they talked about things phil wanted kobe to do.

I think with the engagement with Jeanie, its not a simple employee/employer situation... make amends, say the right things, kiss ass etc. The dynamics might be more Game of Thronish with different members of the family making plays for control.

How does that make you better than the Lin, Gallo, and Wil fans who root for them over NY?
