ESPNSteinLine
Lakers make it official and announce they've released Metta World Peace via amnesty clause. This season's amnesty deadline is July 16

Man this sucks but we are looking forward and that's the main thing. Good luck to MWP wherever he lands.

PG seems like he could be even better than Kobe... IMO.

Although he had some strange moments on the offensive end, he gave it his all every night and for that I commend him. Lakers wouldn't have won in 2010 without him - Phoenix buzzer beater Game 5 + 25 points in Game 6, the 3 at the end of Game 7...plus some A+ entertainment along the way (have a look at semi-sentient's avatar  ). He had a great run here and nothing can take away those 2010 moments.

Goodbye and best of luck to Ron/MWP. Hope to see him kicking around and being his ornery self a little longer.

Looks like CDR and Lazar Hayward will probably make the team now with MWP gone. The depth chart is looking more finished as the summer goes on. It's not set in stone yet though:

G - Nash/Farmar
G - Young/Blake/Meeks?
F - Bryant/CDR/Hayward
F - Hill/Kelly
C - Gasol/Kaman

I don't see where Meeks fits on this team, mainly because he can't play SF and the Farmar signing shifts Blake to the backup 2 spot. Trading Blake is an option, but D'Antoni is a big fan of his.

Raymond Felton/Tim Hardaway Jr.
Jr Smith/Shumpert
Melo/MWP
MWP/Amare
Tyson Chandler/Amare

in the Eastern Conference that will do some damage!

But seriously I hope he retires, I don't want to see MWP in another jersey!

Thanks for Everything RON! Laker for Life!

Love this M.F since the brawl in Detroit.
He was a few Mc Nuggets short of a happy meal but he had heart, back up his **** and never backed down. He played his heart out night in and night out and left it all out on the court.

I partied with him twice in Sac town when he played for the Kings. Dude was simply just one of the boys. Very humble and down to earth.

The World Peace elbow on Harden was my favorite. To this day evertime I watch it it kills me. Lolll

He will be missed greatly! !

Classic.

Watch his facial reaction after hitting the shot and blowing a kiss into the air. You can see some kind of relief on his face, it's like in his head his saying "after all the **** I been through, I'm finally here, I'm finally a champion"

"He's not the perfect player, he's not the perfect person"

A well deserved ring for a person who went thru a lot. Respect!

Damn, I forgot Ron doesn't have his ring anymore, he donated it to mental health awareness! Damn this guy is making him miss more.
