I'd like to have him expire on the bench

So to have him in the starting line up is the equivalent of taking 1 step backwards to end up 2 steps forward. We''ll be fine
Our starting lineup has been horrible all season. I thought Kobe played well tonight. I just didnt come into these 1st month of games with high expectations like it seems most people have. Its no way a guy can comeback to playing at the NBA level after sitting out 8months (half the time laying in bed eating) then expect to play at a superstar level. Its just not happening. I even go back to the 2006 season when Kobe was coming back from that knee surgery. Remember how sluggish he looked then? And that was when he was just entering his prime

I think he also needs to work into getting good chemistry with the team. The flow and pace of the game is definitely different with him back.
We also need Farmar back

But honestly, the blame goes on management as well. We've changed our ways because of D'antoni and there is so much emphasis on offense that we've lost any sort of defensive identity we had from the championship runs.
You have one of the best iso-scorers to ever play the game. You don't need to surround him with so much offensive talent. You need more defensive players to hide his weaknesses. The same goes to Pau. As terrible as he has been, if he is going to be featured, we also need to make up for his weaknesses.
Eventually, Kobe will get back to form. He's looked slow at times, gassed out and he clearly doesn't have the vertical or first step explosion we are used to seeing but man you can tell the fundamentals are there.
If we are going to continue to play small ball (because D'antoni has no knowledge on how to coach a team without a "stretch 4"), I'd like to see Blake/Kobe/Xavier/WJ/Pau start together. A little more quickness and athleticism in the line up.
