Sometimes these forums feel like high school with a bunch of bullies picking on "posters they don't agree with". One thing I dislike about these forums.

Not bullying... Just wondering...

If you think the FO is either inept or deliberately out to destroy the Lakers... Why be a fan?

I can't think of anything more depressing or futile than being a fan of a team like that...

I mean if you grew up watching Kobe, and think he's the center of this org, I can understand why you might be having some feelings right now... But if you can see the bigger picture, I just find it hard to understand how someone with that knowledge could be so negative about this team.

Never said the FO is purposely out to destroy the Lakers. My problem is that Jimmy Buss can single handily destroy the lakers franchises if he doesn't surround himself with the right people. Since Dr. Buss took over he took the Lakers from a classic team to a legendary team. My fear is that the Lakers will become the Celtics. The Celtics don't have the same aura as they once had. When KG/Pierce/Allen happened it brought the old celtic pride back. But they still didn't truly bring back Celtic pride. Celtic pride have basically been dead since 80's. Came back briefly from 08-11 then died again. I just have so much love for this franchise that Jim really scares the hell out of me. If Dr. Buss was still well and alive I wouldn't have these feelings because regardless of the situation Dr. Buss had the right people in place to make sure his franchise didn't fail. Jim Buss means to make the Lakers a winner. But I am not confident he can by himself. He doesn't get it. Until he builds a winner.....I have nothing to go off with him.

And I feel like no matter what evidence the other side of that discussion puts out the Anti Jimmy crowd still says the exact same things... It's like we aren't even here. It's the same rant over and over again...

Like it or not, Jimmy is the closest thing in this world to Dr Buss... Should he just have sold the franchise to some unknown ownership group that cares more about dollars and sense than the history and mystique of the Lakers?

Point is, if he scares you, fine, I can understand that... I don't agree, but I understand...
But do you have to say it every time any article is posted about the Lakers?

I know its not just you but there is a certain group of guys that can literally turn every story good or bad into a bitch session about Jim Buss and the demise of the Lakers. Nothing new is being said at this point.

The situation this team is in was inevitable essentially as soon as the CP3 deal was killed. Kobe was over the hill, and that along with the Howard deal was our last shot at avoiding a few rebuild seasons. It was a damn good effort, and the Nash trade was a damn good 'Second Choice' at the time...

But we're here now. We have to give the FO a chance to turn it around... It's reasonable to expect it to take a few seasons...
Give them a chance...

You are right. I will give Jim a chance. This offseason should be interesting. However, if we don't do anything at all and bring back the same team/coach back next year I am going to lose it

lets assume the lakers decide to tank, which to this point who knows since all the injuries have taken the choice out of their hands...you say its "actually risky to tank", what exactly are they risking?

The real risk is who you draft in the draft. If you tank and get the 5th pick in the draft depending on who is available you could risk tanking for nothing. But given the situation we are in their are no risks anymore. Their aren't any risks in trading any of our players now for anyone. I wouldn't even argue that trading for Melo is not a risk at this point because their is no guarantee that any free agents will be available next year if they opt to stay with their teams for more money and our cap space isn't meaningful unless we actually have a plan or a free agent who isn't for certain not staying with their team. If the T-wolves continue to fail and not make the playoffs then we likely should consider trading everyone including our draft pick if in the 6-10 range for him. But my question has always been is Kevin Love a winner? Pau was sort of the in the same predicament before he got traded to the lakers. So at this point Kevin Love is a risk I would take. But at this point Melo may be one I take as well. Desperation has sadly been engraved within me. Please save us. Give us the 1st pick, Kevin Love, Melo or Kobe reincarnated into 02-06 Kobe  . In Mitch I trust. In Jim I HAVE TO trust.
