I remember reading that Shaq said in his book both Fish and Kobe were hazed but Kobe complained to the front office while Fish just took it.

The hell, calm down

For the most alpha of alpha males, guys like Kobe, the hazing thing must suck but avoiding it is totally out of the question. How many practices are you going to go without the ball ever being thrown to you before it sinks in that it might be a good idea to go along with the program?

seems like the players/people that don;t want to be someones bitch need this type of hazing the most.

The veterans look after you and teach you how to prepare for the NBA. Without them you will fall very far behind, and may not be able to dig yourself out of the hole. Do not think playing for a professional team, is just about going to work everyday and you can learn on your own and clocking out. Its not about tradition, its about respecting the veterans. These guys can pass down tools that will be vital for your career. Most people do not even understand the purpose of hazing, they think it just about playing a joke. 99.99 % of the rookies come in the league having absolutely no idea how to prepare themselves. A lot of the rookies live with the veterans, they teach them how to diet, and prepare for the daily task. May it be practice, going to functions, and even their money. Being a professional has to be learned, that is why many organizations sign older veterans as mentors aka LEADERS. You see this in a smaller degree in highschool and college, but in a bigger degree in professional sports.

Trains, planes, automobiles!

Donuts seem to be essential. I remember KG saying he would make his rookie get fresh donuts. If the donuts were not fresh, he would throw them in the trash and tell the rookie to go back.

Here's some footage of Chris Paul with Team USA having to carry bags.

Some rookies get their ride filled with popcorn.

Nowadays he looks like he's full of popcorn :P

Some nights go to sleep wishing I could be as badass as this guy. True story.
