If they do re-sign Pau, who do you put next to him at PF?

wow.

so insulting for a player who single handedly changed the face of the franchise in 2008.

I kinda wanted him to be traded but resigning him at 7-9 mil per season for the next 2 years, and I'm all in for it. Even at 33, he's still one of the most polished big men in the NBA. Dude can still take any PF/C to school when he's mentally locked in.
That said, Kobe & Pau for the next 2 years, and retire both jerseys, because they both deserve it. I would like to think both are super hungry for a championship after a couple of dreadful year and attempts to change the route of the franchise. 24 and 16 for 2 more years baby.

I'd sign him to a one year blank check.

Why not?

We need him, next year, to be good.

I don't necessarily like the way he'd fit next to Love, so after next year, it's debatable whether he'd be needed or not.

In the meantime, give him whatever he wants for one season.

I'm not sure that re-signing Pau over say Kaman/Hill is a good decision though. Ideally you bring them all back on reasonable deals since Hill and Kaman seem to play just fine next to each other (you'd have three decent Cs that way and Sacre as the extra).

Then you look for a PF like a Taj Gibson or perhaps you draft one in Vonleh or Gordon.

Only after firing D'Antoni (cuz none of the aforementioned bigs are coming back with him here) ...

For next year alone, Gasol should be "unreasonably" signed.

For two years minimum, Hill should be reasonably signed.

And I agree with your comments on Kaman, he should be reasonably signed for one year as well, but i can only imagine that he is more pissed with D'Antoni and the organization than both Gasol and Hill combined. Very far-fetched ... but ideal as you stated.

They won't go after Gibson when they can resign Hill for half of his salary and Hill would be a better fit next to Love.

And Aaron Gordon probably won't be drafted unless the Lakers envision Love playing a great deal of center ... not too likely ... but with them tied to D'Antoni, you never know.

Possible.

The Lakers have always had a plan to get a C. I wouldn't be surprised if they look at either Austin or Stein at some point. If they feel that they can put 20 lbs on Austin he'd be worth the effort.

I haven't seen alot of Stein but he seems like a reach as a top ten pick and I have no idea who Austin is, so, unless I'm missing something, he's probably a reach as well.

The Lakers are not going to draft a center just because they value bigmen. They'll pick the best guy, with a strong, but not singular, consideration given to team need.

To me, Jordan Hill, has more "upside" than Stein, but, again, I haven't seen him a whole lot.

Gasol, Hill, and Kaman in Laker uniforms next year with a coach who values their potential contributions would be a dream:

(with no Irving, and the 7th pick)
PG - Farmar - Lavine (maybe Exum or Smart)
SG - Bryant - Henry
C - Gasol - Kaman
PF - Hill - Clark
SF - Johnson - (Bryant)
