Re: KB On Season:
I'm convinced the pressure on Kobe right now is his paycheck... I think after signing that contract the pressure went up in his own mind to prove he can still earn it.
It's not different from what he's always done, but it is a little ill timed...
That said, I don't count the Lakers or Kobe out until after the trade deadline... Come that time next year, all our assumptions about both of them could be completely out the window.

Re: KB On Season:
Oh, and when a player who's won 5 rings and shut his critics up again and again, he can say whatever the hell he wants. And Grantland is cute, but trying to caricature Kobe is like doing what? A Kobe Bryant factsheet reads like a caricature.
Saying he's going to come back next year and get revenge is pretty tame compared to some of the inane crap that comes out of Lebron's mouth.

Right, because that's who he's been throughout his career.

(Jeff G is a guy from a local radio station out here in LA)
Jeff G.: You just signed a two-year deal…talk about that means to you and what the fans can expect the last two years from Kobe.
Kobe: “This year, we all know it’s been a real tough year for us right? So what I’d like everybody to do is to really just sit back and just absorb this year. Take it all in. Sit back and watch and listen and hear all the hate that’s being thrown at us and remember every person that’s kicking you when you’re down because next year it ain’t gunna be this way.”
Appreciate it now. Let it sit in now, because revenge is sweet and it’s quick.”
JG: There’s a lot of people that have had a lack of faith in the team and your recovery and all those things, but that’s all motivation [for you]?
Kobe: “You’ve got to appreciate that and enjoy that and use that as fuel as motivation to basically just shut everybody the hell up. It’s that challenge, that challenge that drives us all, I think, and definitely keeps me going.”
Man I want this guy to win another ring before this current contract is up... Regardless Kobe seems to have faith in the front office making moves this offseason so we'll see.
kobe, nobody wants to play with you for the next 2 years.

they're keep coming here due to 2 reasons, one to see what could've been had they gotten Pau at the trade deadline and 2nd to keep tabs on our pick for 2015. So we'll see more of them next year too

At the end of the day, we all watch grown men play a game and get excited about it. Get over yourself.

Considering the level he was playing at in his short return from a devastating injury, I think it's safe to say he'll still have serious game once (if, I suppose) he gets back into actual game shape.
Nash, on the other hand... I have more reservations over his return. I'm sure this is a unique position that I alone have

The few games Steve Nash was able to play without injury and fatigue he did not look like he lost a beat either but like he says he can do it once a week and once a week does not cut it in the NBA. I'd right now be very surprised if Kobe is able to be stay Kobe for 3 games in 5 days or more as demanded by the schedule.

I don't know either. He won't be as spry, no question, and he's towards the end of his career, but during those two down games (by your best case hypothesis), I feel he might be able to regain enough to still be a worthwhile presence.
Who knows though.

Man some of you guys here act like Kobe is a piece of bread trying to avoid water. The man was starting to show very much shades of his old self after only 6 GAMES........
He was basically knocking off the rust slowly, but I get it this place if full of pessimist.

maybe i should rephrase my point of view. I don't expect him to be as good as 2013 but wouldn't be all that shocked if he played at an All Star level again. What I'm annoyed about is that he acts like he can still win a championship and even the most optimistic fans no the Lakers don't have a shot of doing so while Kobe is still on the roster and getting paid the money he's receiving.
