Melo, Kobe, Swaggy P on the court at the same time, just let that thought sink in for ya

Not a fan of one dimensional offensive players that don't play defense or team ball... There are better options in terms of value...

I think Swaggy P is going to opt out & take a bigger pay day from another team. In a lot of ways he out played his 1.2 mil contract and the year before he earned 6 mil

Yes because we re-signed Kobe to that 2 year extension. It means that we will be competing next year. Our lottery pick this year was a bonus because Kobe was injured.
As much as I want us to rebuild, it's just not possible with the extension of Kobe.
I just dont think Kobe would be ok for another season of failure.
I'm also expecting Pau to resign once Dantoni is fired. Our lottery pick can be traded to Love or Irving but I dont think they would accept it.
We go for Melo or Deng.
Kobe, Melo, Pau + lottery pick is not bad at all... You just need to pick up defensive role players (And a good coach too) to be successful. c
I do not like that plan because I want a full re-built but that Kobe extension tells me that we will compete next year no matter what.

Hell yeah when the other option is I pad my stats, play no d, am made of glass, and have never helped a team win Kevin love for the max. Melo is the better player, better everything, and Melo, Kobe, the right pick, and pieces is better. Hell for all we know getting Melo and then flipping a pick if its high enough with Nash may be the only thing that entices a Love to even sign here to be a robin long term
Face facts there's no better free agent than Melo on the market outside Bron the next couple years.
Kyrie and Love ain't proven **** but they get number, get hurt, and get losses which is why it's silly to even ask if you should want Melo when he's done more in the fn league to help teams all his career than those fools

It's not just Kobe's extension.. Our 2015 pick is only top 5 protected, so unless we end up with the absolute worst record in the league there's no guarantee we even get a pick.. Another season of tanking with nothing to show for it sounds pretty horrible.. like kblo247 said, Melo is actually more proven than Irving or Love who are both extremely injury prone & haven't taken their teams anywhere.. At 29 he won't be the future of the franchise or any of that pipe dream that people hope Love or Kyrie can be, but he can certainly give us the best shot of competing within Kobe's window of anyone on the market outside of Lebron.Biased_Fan6425 wrote:Yes because we re-signed Kobe to that 2 year extension. Lakersin4 you hit that on the money. Don't think a lot of people on the forums think with this type of logic.

Re: Would you sign Melo? Why or Why Not?
I would.. But it would have to be at the right price.
15-17m. That would leave us enough room to have our draft pick, Melo, Kobe and then add Kevin Love to the core next year.

no you'd have to commit a 4 year max to a player that is in his early thirties when he signs that deal.

I said yes, but with a caveat. I wouldn't pay him the full max. he is on record as saying he would take less but maybe that is only for NYK, who knows. But if you pay full max cap is severely restricted until KB24's contract ends.

Kobe's extension has very little to do with the organization's ability to rebuild however it has everything to do with the Lakers inability to compete for a championship these next two years.

Not saying Lebron would leave Miami but if he opts out this summer and says he is considering Lakers as one of his top choices you are saying you wouldn't offer him a long term deal knowing Kobe's 23.5 mil would be off the books come the summer of 2016?
Not really interested in considering fantasy unrelalistic scenarios. With the free agents expected to be available this summer, I don't believe you can build a contender this summer.
Not pulling up any fantasy. You stated you wouldn't sign anyone from this summer's free agent crop to long term deals. With players like Lebron, Melo, Bosh, Lance Stephenson, Eric Bledsoe, Pau Gasol, and a few others that would be nice pieces to start building a contender. Very rarely can you build a contender from scratch in one off-season so it is always wise to add a piece in a summer as long as it doesn't require over paying.
not sure where youre getting the cap space to sign all of these players.
and yes lebron is a fantasy, looking at it any other way is foolish. theres pretty much no chance he leaves miami, let alone for LA which would have an even worse supporting cast.

Mentioning available players in free agency isn't the same as saying try to sign all these players. As of right now we could have about 22 to 23 mil without Nick Young opting out & not waiving Nash. Those 2 off the books can push it to 28 to 29 mil. I don't see Lebron leaving Miami either. I do see Melo & Stephenson not staying with their current teams.
