Glad to hear Jim & Jeanie are on the same page now.. I know just a few months back Kobe was talking about them needing to get it together.

Typical Kobe.
He takes part in the decision-making process, and when it turns to sh#t, he claims he had nothing to do with it.
I'm 100% sure he won't accept any blame if the next head coach doesn't lead this team to a title before Kobe's retirement.

He did make it seem like they didn't consult him at all.. When in the past he said D'antoni was his top choice because he didn't know Phil was an option.. He's just pissed they didn't go with Phil/tell him Phil was an option so he could lobby for it.

You're way off base, it's not about letting him pick the coach of his choosing. When a player says they'd like the management to consult them on a coach, all it is basically is to find a coach that style fits the culture of the franchise.Michael Lucky wrote:Yeah i'm sure kobe would just be great at picking a coach. Probably as good as he is picking a salary that would allow him to win another title.
And as you can see from the last two neither fit the Laker culture....especially MDA. Kobe knows damn well he's not picking the coach, he wants to know that the coach is going to come to the Lakers and accept what this franchise has done and how to continue that prestige. The last two coaches were hellbent on changing what we were known for. Brown not as bad as MDA but both still did things to change the culture. Brown would even some times mention we were still in "bad habits"....how the hell did we get bad habits when he took over a team that had only been a year and half removed from winning a title ?
Bottom line is Kobe just wants to know what they're thinking. Of course he has his personal picks he'd probably like, but it will at least make you feel confident that the management is thinking close to your thinking.
People are over blowing the the consulting thing way too far.

Mike Brown - he said he found out on espn that he was hired. He endorsed Shaw and Adleman, most the **** team endorses Shaw as they in their exit meetings before the lockout. They just were ignored and Shaw wasn't even given a courtesy call.
Dantoni - he like Dwight, Metta, Pau, and Mah were asked about Dantoni, Dunleavy, and later told Phil was a choice. They were ranking guys and Kobe, Pau, Dwight, and Metta all said they wanted Phil. Nash endorsed Dantoni over Phil and Jim Buss said as much on espn la radio when he said he was sold on the idea Nash would be maximized by dantoni and everyone else by Nash.
Kobe's first choices haven't been hired at all, and it's fair to say he could pick a better coach since the last two were ass by Jim and Mitch
FFS picking between Dubleavy and Dantoni is like shot or stabbed to death
I was sure PJ was a lock with Howard and Gasol on the team, I saw Nash drilling 3s and Bryant and Artest doing their thing. I felt if PJ was hired we would've went far, I also don't see Bryant going down like that under PJ... that's just me tho

what really stings is we were over 500 without Nash, 5-13 with Nash running the o, AND WE FINISHED WITH THE SECOND BEST RECORD IN THE LEAGUE THE LAST 41 GAMES PLAYING HOW PHIL WOULD HAVE PLAYED WITH NASH OFF THE BALL AS A GLORFIED FISHER OR KERRAdonisDeMarion wrote:kblo247 wrote:Just putting it out there.

This is one mistake I'll never forgive the front office for. It goes back to giving Nash that contract.
Goran Dragic
Delonte West
Ronnie Price
bottom line is we lost out as soon as we turned PJ down

I think there is an argument to made towards having Kobe involved in with who the next coach is, because then he is very limited in his ability to get pissy if something goes wrong.
I'll say again that right now I just need Kobe to play, be effective and stay healthy. For now I'll allow the FO to do its thing and see how it all shakes out.

Kobe should pick the next coach. Give that coach a 2 year deal. Let's give Mamba the chance to end his career the way he wants.
Obviously he wants to win and so do we.
