Monroe belongs in the wrong era.
Good, big player but he is not athletic and nor is he much in the way of a rim protector. Current rules favour skinny centres that cover a lot of ground.

I honestly don't think I have seen him play a single game... Decent stats and pretty young - not sure about what deal they would offer.

Anyone know what the cap is next year in the NBA? Last year was around $58 million. Assuming it's around the same next year, that means we'll roughly be able to spend $23 million this summer because we only have $35 million on the books as of today. Am I wrong with this though? I would consider waiving Nash via the stretch provision to give us an extra $3 million to spend this summer ($3 million each summer for the next three years if he's waived). That would then give us around $26 million?
Wouldn't mind signing Lowry + Monroe for roughly $13 million each. Detroit would probably match, but maybe not because they need to save cap space for Drummond in a few years. I would prefer Lowry + Monroe over just Carmelo IMO.

Depending on price, he would be a nice pickup... Greg out up 15/10 with selfish players like josh smith and Brandon jennings around him

We have to be smart with our money and roll up our sleeves and do some due diligence... There are some good values out the on the market... Lineup as follows:
PG: Vasquez (6'6") & Farmar (6'2")
SG: Kobe (6'6") & Meeks (6'5")
SF: Ariza (6'7") & Wesley (6'7")
PF: Hill (6'10") & Kelly (6'9")
C: Vonleh (6'10") & Sacre (7'0")
We field a competitive and very athletic and defensive oriented team and pick up our next superstar next year... Our defense will be solid...

Vonleh is too small right now to guard NBA centers on a daily basis. I'd switch him with Hill.
Also Greivis Vasquez was practically weeping when talking about how much he loved playing in Toronto in his exit interview...something tells me he stays.
Ariza, I'd love him, but he'll be too expensive.

I think Monroe would pair well with Gordon or Vonleh, if Lakers go for Saric or Randle I think the interior defense is doomed to be garbage pairing either of them with Monroe.

and playoffs favor a slow pace that could use a center like Monroe in the half court

Just don't think Monroe is that guy. He might develop in a solid centre but anything else would be just a fluke. If we pay him like 4-6 Mill per year, it could be worth it but if we're throwing him a whole cookie jar, then no, no noooo.
