Even when Nash played well over the last few seasons he gives up more than he gets. He could come back & average a double double & we'd give up 25 PPG to opposing PG's.

I'm not completely ruling out a Steve Nash comeback. He looked pretty good down the stretch - probably much of the impact is learning to play through certain types of pain. At 80%, he's still an above average offensive player/creator in this league.

BUT ... Steve Nash has something working against him: he has become the most valuable asset in the entire NBA outside of a high draft pick ... he's an expiring contract (who might retire when he's traded). So anyway you slice it, he's probably gone UNLESS we back channel and earmark that cap space for a Kyrie type in the offseason.

Nash was a great player. The key word is "was." With that nerve issue in his back he is done. It reminds me of the end of Larry Bird's career. He will not get close to the player he was. Unfortunately the max you could expect from Nash now is maybe 40 games with a stat line of 9ppg/7apg/1stl. That is at the max. The best bet is to package him with 7th pick hoping to get a star or waiving him so Lakers can use the stretch clause freeing up about 6.5 million in cap space so they can have around 33 million in cap space instead of just under 27 million.

Its crazy to think how badly the Suns fleeced us in this Nash trade. Mitch got absolutely trade-raped in hindsight.

Not only did we have to give up 2 first round picks and 2 second round picks just to get him, but we had to give up those picks just to have the ability to overpay him at $9-10 million a year for 3 years. Insane
