Stretch Steve Nash to 3M over 3 years. Gives us roughly 28.7M to play with.

Draft Smart. Sign Lance Stephenson and Gasol. Sign Melo for 14M.

STARTERS:
Marcus Smart (2.7M)
Lance Stephenson (7Mil)
Kobe Bryant (23M)
Carmelo Anthony (14 Mil)
Pau Gasol (7 Mil)

BENCH:
Nick Young (MMLE)
Carlos Boozer (min after he's amnestied)
Jordan Farmar (min)
Backup SF (min)
Ryan Kelly (min)
Robert Sacre (915K)
Kendall Marshall (915K)

I think that works money wise. A lot of players taking a discount obviously. Byron Scott for head coach, Fisher as an assistant. This is my win now at any cost plan.

We build it by working down the list of available talent...

LeBron>Love>Melo>Stephenson>etc...

And then we feel out not so available talent like Durant etc...

And we secure the best free agents available at the best prices... But if you don't land a top tier talent, you protect your financial flexibility for next season...
Basically if we don't land LeBron, Melo, or Love, I think we're going to have to wait for next off season and hope for Durant etc...

Also, if we can't get those guys, we probably should keep our pick and try to get a future star at 7 rather than taking the larger gamble lower...

So there's way too many moving parts right now in my opinion to make too much of a guess...

But if forced, I'd guess something like this:

Farmar
Meeks
Kobe
Melo
Pau...

I think we'll keep our pick and grab Randle, but he won't start...

I think we're going to swing for the fences but ultimately end up looking toward 2015.

I think it's exceedingly difficult to get a starting big man these days in the NBA. The last two Laker championships came from having a plethora of excellent big men out there and truth be told it's not that difficult to get a decent PG. I'm not talking about a great player but at least a good guy in there is not that difficult. There are a few available this year and even the ones on the Laker roster aren't all that bad. On the other hand getting a legitimate PF has been a total pain in the ass for L.A.

I would take the best remaining out of the three PFs if I'm looking to build a roster as opposed to just BPA. That will likely be Gordon.
