Honestly, assists can be misleading. Guys have to make shots to get an assists. Look at Wesley. Lin gave him a point-blank shot that Wes missed badly. Other guys made their shots. An easy assist is just passing the ball to a jump shooter that knocks it down. There are quality of assists. Lin's assists yesterday weren't easy ones, so I think sometimes you have to watch a game to see how a PG gets the ball to other players. Lin is up and down in this respect and spacing matters a lot for him, but as he gets to know players better he'll set them up better. And he'll get more if Ed Davis plays with him. And if jump shooters like Hill and Boozer make their shots. The other night Curry had 15 assists but a lot of them were because he has great jump shooters around him. I'm not discrediting Curry, he's a top PG, but his scoring threat and great shooters help give him that number.

Agreed, it's tough to get assists when Kobe ISOs so much and Johnson Bricks so much.

Thanks for the honesty.

GettinitDone had the most salient point of all IMO- Lakers need their starting PG to consistently take 10-12 shots a game (or more), and also generate some shots for teammates. Lin has got to realize this- trying to fit in with the players on the floor is fine, but NOT at the expense of nullifying the starting PG's contribution. What makes it worse is that he's a decent scoring PG, on a team that is often really lacking in scorers (even if Kobe is taking a lot of shots.)

It makes no difference whether he's a potential All-Star or a backup scrub, what he IS for sure is the Laker's starting point guard...Go out and TRY to make the contribution the team needs from your position. If you fail and have a bad night, then at least you tried and had a chance. For every bad night he has, he'll have some great nights too and it will average out anyway.

Do THAT for a few weeks, then we can discuss what ways he best helps or hurts the team, and how he might most effectively be utilized...

I would like to see Lin just stick the finger and say, "I missed, so do you" and just run the offense his way. We forget the reality...you.re right. Lin is our starting PG, go get it.
Yes, im posting all over again!
