If they do that, wouldn't that team be worse than say:

Jackson Clarkson
Kobe Nick Hou 1st
Wes Johnson Stanley Johnson
Randle Booz Kelly
Marc Black Sacre

And 2016 when kobes money becomes available for another star?

No. Randolph, Conley, Gasol and Allen is better than anything the Lakers could realistically put around Gasol. Everyone knows that Grizzlie's problem is a lack of creator on the perimeter. They can sign a perimeter player, make a trade or resign Jeff Green. Asking Gasol to come to the Lakers you'd essentially be asking him to carry a team full of a broke down Kobe, a bunch of rookies and role players that are good enough for one of the worst records in the league. Besides there are no guarantees that Wes or Boozer stays. You're basically doing the same crap we've we did last year and praying that a superstar will get excited by playing with rookies and just because we're the Lakers.

I was responding to your hypothetical statement that "If the Grizzlies get eliminated they'll change everything else about the team except for Gasol" which isn't exactly the same as them bringing back Randolph, Conley, and Allen as you are now stating.
Also, having Booz as your 6th scoring option and a mentor to a all-star potential rookie next year is just a bit different than having him as your only reliable scorer like this year. Same goes for Nick. And having Clarkson play 13 minutes behind Jackson as opposed to starting and playing 30-35 this year. It's like you think having to play these guys as full time starters with no other play maker on the team is the same as having them come off the bench for 10 or 15 minutes and getting wide open looks because actual starters are getting doubled. There is no comparison, and they actually are good bench players. A broke down kobe, if actually able to play, and accept this sudden 8 assist and 12 fga role, is still better than probably all but 5 PGs in the league. Oh ya, then there's Jackson. And Stanley, who is already being touted defensively as a blend of Ron Artest and Kawhi. And if he is looking Long term, 2016 and forward we would have an elite defensive pg who can score, a top 5 sf, a top 7 pf (who could easily turn out to be the best player of his class), and another max fa, in addition to him. So no there aren't exactly a lot of places that will have that to offer to him. HE will be 30+, its actually a good thing to have all those young guys around him as he rides into the twilight of his career 3, 4, and 5 years down the road. Zbo is in his 14th year, and at 6'9'' 280, what is he going to look like in 2016 and beyond- compared to Randle for example?

Although I think he's already cemented his position with the Pistons, and the way they've been playing, i too doubt he would still leave unless their management low balls him. I would really like to get an experience and proven C though. Who else is there? Randle and top 5 C is just too inexperienced... i wouldnt mind it though if it came to it.

Inexperienced? This team is rebuilding anyways. Every player has to start somewhere. Rather see the Lakers build a strong team than become a first-round exit team in the playoffs every yr.

They've built up a pretty good thing in Memphis, just because you lose a playoff series to another really good team doesn't mean you should blow it up. More likely they stay the course and keep looking for opportunities to improve year over year.

I think if Marc WERE to leave, they'd probably try to re-sign Koufos or go after Asik.

You draft an inexperienced center and trade for a center with more experience (Lopez).

Much like football when you build teams along the line of scrimmage, it's always most ideal to build teams with your big men. The Lakers did that with Vlade and Elden Campbell in the nineties, and the Hawks are doing it now with Horford/Milsap.

A year of Lopez at center as a youngster (like Towns) backs him up would solidify the center position and allow the Lakers to focus on signing a defensive small forward with toughness who can also shoot and rebound at an above average clip (I'm thinking DeMarre Carroll).

Noooo, Lopez is horrible and the Lakers can perhaps draft a wing with the HOU 1st too. Hollis-Jefferson perhaps?
