Re: Scott: Some players might shoot me in the back
Anyways, I have no idea how one couldn't be impressed with Towns. He was legitimately the #3 player of the year candidate behind Kaminsky and Okafor. His numbers were outstanding. Does Okafor and Towns have some deficiencies they need to work on? Yes, but they are excellent value for what they'll be paid and they'll immediately be the biggest trade asset if they were to be drafted by the Lakers.

On top of that, Towns plays about 15-20% less than Okafor and Kaminsky right?
2014: Randle / Clarkson
2015: Russell / Nance
2016: Ingram / Zubac
2017: Top 3 Pick?
Fultz, Ball or Bust
2015: Russell / Nance
2016: Ingram / Zubac
2017: Top 3 Pick?

That's the thing though, I feel him. I'm not SUPER high on Towns either. To me he's simply the best bigman in a draft where I fail to see a generational/transformative talent at the other positions.
Towns may never be great. He may never sniff an all-star game ... I don't care.
If the Lakers develop him like they've developed every other big they've drafted, then I'd be elated if Towns maxes out at Brian Williams/Bison Dele, John "Hot Rod" Williams, Elden Campbell, or, who he most reminds me of, Roy Tarpley.
None of the aforementioned guys were great, pretty sure they were never all-stars, just solid role-playing bigs who were vital, invaluable cogs on their respective teams.
Just because they're picked high, doesn't mean they have to be world beaters. It doesn't have to be feast or famine.
Like Ty said, at the very, very least, the Lakers would be developing a potential sizable trade chip.

I get that this is sort of a central thread that has mojo, but soooo much derailing going on.

Scott:
His priorities have to be a little different. I consider Nick either a home run or a strikeout-type guy on the offensive end. Just like I told him, he has to elevate his game. He has to grow as a basketball player if he wants to continue to play in this league for a long time. He has to get better moving without the ball, being able to defend people a little bit better and be a better off-the-ball defender as well.
There are areas in his game that he has to improve. And if he doesn’t, there’s no telling what we’re going to do this year in the free-agent market. But if we get the guys we want, then he’s got a challenge next year on his hands as far as being in that rotation and playing consistent minutes.

Swaggy P“I’m used to it right now, hearing what Byron has to say,” Young said of Scott's comments, according to Morales and the Los Angeles Daily News' Mark Medina. “I take it with a grain of salt.”
A really, really, ridiculously educational grain of salt, though, right?
“Nah,” he continued. “I don’t know. I feel like it’s just a target toward me. It’s a little unfair. But it’s cool.”

That second line from Scott. Swaggy P potentially on the block? I know there's gotta be at least one team that would take him due to his scoring ability.

I mean, at this point the pros and cons of nick young are out there, it just depends on how much weight you put on each side of the argument. You guys criticize his personality, but for what it's worth at least he doesn't seem to be the egotistical shot jacker type like waiters.
