Yeah, sure, Mitch is making the decision. That’s what he tells us and I’ll cross my fingers and believe him. But Mitch doesn’t live in a vacuum. He’s an intelligent GM. He’ll talk to his staff. He’ll talk with Jesse Buss, with Jimmy boy and maybe even Jimmy’s bartender. One man I know he’ll talk with extensively is coach Byron Scott. In fact, Byron’s input on what he wants should be significant.
So my question is What Would Byron Do?
Please help me out here but from the searches I’ve done, I don’t think Byron has ever said whether he prefers a big or a guard for the #2 pick. If a big, does he want a “modern” center (smaller, faster, more athletic, outside shooter – basically a 4 that can guard the occasional real 5) or does he want a true 280 pound center?
So, I looked at the rosters of his 2 most successful teams: the 2001-02 New Jersey Nets and the 2007-08 New Orleans Hornets (excuse the spacing, this was pure copy and paste).

His main centers were Jason Collins and Tyson Chandler - smart, physical duplicates of one Karl Towns.
The Princeton offense requires constant movement, high basketball IQ and quickness. That’s Towns. Aside from the IQ part, that’s not Okafor.
And we know how Byron loves to groom point guards.
I have a feeling that if we don’t get Towns, B is going to want Russell over Okafor. Not saying that's good, not saying that's bad. Just trying to get into Byron's head a little. Because, again, Mitch doesn't live in a bubble. I think his coach might have at least a little impact on his decision making.

If more people thought like I do, the world would be a much better place.
