D'Angelo Russell Summer League Evaluation

Post#1 » by drk3351 » Mon Aug 10, 2015 10:23 pm

Hey Lakers fans, I made a breakdown video taking a look at Russell's SL performance. It was a mixed bag and I point out some positive and negative observations. Let me know what you thought of his showing, thanks.

Good stuff, look forward to your future videos. Reminded me a ton of BBallBreakdown.

Pretty good breakdown. I think some of the criticism is premature, but based on the sample size I think it's fair enough.

i thought he was pretty impressive given the amount of time spent with new players and pace of the game. he has a smooth curry like quick release. his dribbles are high making him susceptible to being picked on crossovers. i agree with his lack of burst to the rim or craftyness around the paint. as of right now hes manu like with a better shot. just give him more time.

great breakdown, but you definitely miss one positive; rebounding.

russell is exceptional at anticipating bounces and got the length to compete for rebounds especially for a guard/pg

nice breakdown...a lot of the weaknesses you pointed out are simply because of 2 things-

1. youth
2. lack of quickness

He's going to be a great point guard...hes not as quick as harden or ginobili, but his game is similar. He's not as fast as mike conley but he seems better at everything else. He's young, has very high IQ, and he can shoot. He'll be a good PG in the NBA. Give him 2 seasons.

"he is not very fast, he is very slow actually, and hes not really that quick"

For a #2 pick? That evaluation right there is mindboggling, as to what we were evaluating as a organization, if this be true...
