Then who starts at SG or SF then?

Kobe will start at the 2, then somebody will start at the 3...

Yep Kobe is going to get killed this year defensively and health wise at the 2 this year.

If anything, I'd have Huertas taking over starting duties if we put Russell on the bench.

However, I think Huertas would be better on the second unit dishing to Lou, Nick and Bass.

Besides, Russell playing with Clarkson would be the best scenario if you think he's not ready. Both should be able to play on or off the ball with Clarkson playing point when Russell is struggling.

Huertas has been injured/getting his immigration status fixed. They want Lou coming off the bench....

Clarkson? They want to develop their chemistry. All I've read is about D'Angelo's leadership, anyway.

In the end: Jim Buss explicitly stated the goal for this year: to find a core going forward. So whether they win or lose, it's about developing the pieces we have. I'd have loved some old vet who has earned the spot already, and for D'lo to have to take it from him, but it's just not the situation we have presently.

I guess that's sort of the wonky part. Trying to juggle Clarkson/D with Kobe's twilight. But hey, if we went Okafor then we'd be having the same issues with he and Randle.

In the end, I don't think it would be wise to play Clarkson and D'Lo together long term. What I would do is start Clarkson at PG with Kobe at SG.

Showcase Lou with DLo while DLo hides his weaknesses, then deal him. Hibbert is another candidate I hope this happens to.

You want to showcase DLo to trade him when he's played like 2 quarters of basketball...and your solution is to have him come off the bench. Riiiiight.

Who said I'm showcasing DLo?

:banghead: :banghead:

The point of playing DLo with Lou Williams is to showcase Lou Williams abilities while hiding his deficiencies.

You're not that bright.

For wanting to have DLo to come off the bench with Lou or for wanting to start Jordan at PG?

He's going to get killed defensively no matter what position he plays at this point unless they plan tons of zone.

this team is going to get killed 1-3 this year. no matter who starts. there are not too many defensive players on the team at the 1-3 position

I still think Clarkson with primary ball handling duties with Russell playing off ball is the ideal setup to start the season.

Also health wise he is at risk for injury too thus why Mamba was moved to SF.

Agree with doc. Stamp them with the position labels but let them do the other's role come game time.

Clarkson slashing and Russell shooting would be a thing of beauty.

To be honest Kobe is the odd man out. Unless he scales back considerably he could mess up the flow of the starting lineup forcing them to have to move an aggressive player like Clarkson to the bench

At this juncture, you have to put the most cohesive unit on the floor and bring the 19 year old rookie along slowly... His confidence is shook... He is rattled... Lineup should be as follows:

PG: Clarkson
SG: KB24
SF: Brown (covers top wing) is
PF: Randle
C: Hibbert

Second unit has allot of options with Lou, Russell, Huertas, Nance, Young, Bass & Black... I am fired up for the regular season...

With Clarkson in the starting lineup, I think the best place for Russell to be at is with the starting group. Whether as a 1 or a 2, having Clarkson, Kobe ad Randle will allow Russell to pick his spots and not force his offense. It will allow him to focus on creating for others or just stay open on the perimeter. On bad turnover prone nights, JC can easily take over the pg position. And at end games, Huertas or Williams can easily join the starters to finish the game.

I think that we are overreacting over nothing. Once he gets into the regular season, he will get into the flow better. Playing limited, irregular minutes when you only play twice a week is not a good way to get rhythm or try to find your identity.

Clarkson/Huertas
Russell/Williams
Kobe/Young
Randle/Bass
Hibbert/Black or Upshaw

This would be my rotation 10 man with one of Black and Upshaw + Nance getting couple of minutes here and there unless injuries.

Exactly what I was thinking. Huertas to Randle could be unstoppable.
