Byron Scott is a moron but the front office needs to shoulder some of the blame as well. Why bother signing Lou and acquiring Hibbert if you wanted to tank?

Lou was 6th man of the year...
That is value in a vacuum ... although very poor fit

Hibbert was just a cap number to hold money for this offseason... never really had any expectation to do anything on the court.
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team

Proceeds to finish 7th and shames the entire nation!

I'm not defending the signings, per se, but if you're going to play a young team, having role players who know their job is invaluable. Young player's have to freelance when they don't know what else to do, and over 82 games that's a lot. At least having a couple guys who know their game, and what to do helps give some semblance of structure. For example, Randle knows what it's like playing beside a legitimate (though clearly not exceptional) center. If it was a PF/C manning that post, Randle would find himself with less room to operate when a real post player arrives.

Likewise JC and Russ got to see Lou switch roles a couple times. Because for his short comings, Lou will change his game when he's running the offence, to when he's off ball. He's quite good at defining his roles.

And in the end it's not like they hurt the tank either.

This year was a mess though. It was obvious from day 1. The team was a patchwork.

He has to realize that this mindset is EXACTLY why they needed to fire him. What he said would save his job, is in actuality what got him fired.
