Lakers really need a perimiter/guard defender

Post#1 » by TKainZero » Sat Jul 2, 2016 6:35 pm

FREE agency is here, and the disapointments and failures just keep coming in...

So lakers had a couple GLARING holes coming into FA.
Starting C, and a defensive guard/Wing (who could slide in at starting SG)

So what do the lakers do?

Run out and sign Movgoz, who at best, was not longer NBA capable 12 months ago, to be their starting center. The guy was a 3rd string center who didn't play in important games, because he is bad, and doesn't fit the current NBA anymore.

But that can be forgiven, if the lakers go out and sign that defensive guard they need...

INSTEAD, they sign ancient Luol Deng. A former impressive defensive SF, who is now a small ball 4, because he lost almost all his lateral speed.

I really like Clarkson coming back, but he is not a starting SG, and his defense is not good.

Now, with Lou Williams and Nick Young contracts needing to be dumped still, the lakers add Mozgov (whose contract will be tried to be fake traded for the upcoming several years.) And why 4 years!

I really REALLY wanted kent bazemore... who signed for a reasonable amount of money (between what deng and mozgov got)..
Baze is starting SG who can guard 3 positions on the floor... young, versatile, would have been perfect...

But yea... give the same money to a 30 year old 3rd string center, and an old SF who lost all his quickness (and might be older than stated)

I'm having a hard time trying to see how the lakers can pull themselves out of this.
These signings make me long for carlos boozer...
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team

Proceeds to finish 7th and shames the entire nation!

We offered him more money than atlanta, yet he turned us down. What do you want us to do, kidnap players?

We offered Bazemore more money, but when you took the state taxes out of it he made more in Atlanta

Why is this a new thread? You spoke about nothing related to signing a SG outside of a guy who was already signed.

It's a longshot but maybe we can trade for one, someone like McDaniels maybe. Underrated, undervalued with some potential.

so watching Bill Maher on last night he was bragging about the booming California economy and one of the things he attributed the economic success was the fact that state taxes for the rich sky rocketed under Jerry Brown. I wonder how much that is influencing free agents not to come to cali.

I like the idea of absorbing Thabo, but it would probably involve taking Splitter as well...meh. Otherwise, I'd still throw a sizeable offer sheet at Crabbe and see if they match
