Predict number of Lakers wins, Oct edition

Post#1 » by stan francisco » Sat Oct 1, 2016 11:07 pm

Before the first pres-season game, let's get our final predictions in.

In the July thread, I was crazy enough to have them at 35 plus wins. Yes, i know, it's mpossible to most to fathom how anyone could be that homeriffic.

After hearing the excitement levels of every single player over the new culture Luke has established and how every single player preaches defense and unselfishness, giving it all, my new prediction is higher.

40 wins or more is my new best bet.

Don't complain, get your own prediction in!

26 wins. Thats a 9 game improvement. That's a pretty big jump in the NBA for any team. 8 to 12 games improvement would be huge.

24 wins. It is hard to win games when your best player will only be 20 years old this season.

28 wins. To be honest, I don't care about how many games they win. Just play some entertaining basketball and let the young players make mistakes.

I"ll keep my July prediction....30 games.

Less than 25 would be a disappointment to me. Over 35 would be really, really impressive.

This team is capable of 30-35 wins. What I'm looking for is progression and growth in certain areas that we need to improve in to become elite again. Don't be intimidated on thinking 30 wins, it's not a reach especially when I remember how we lost some games last season. Honestly we gave away about 10-12 games in a season where we only won 17. A lot of the losses were from things you can control...offensive execution ( that wasn't the best to start with anyway), defensive problems...again controllable issues that we seem now intent on getting better at.

Gonna be fun to watch. I'm hoping 45 games. But like most, I'm not expecting much. Were not winning a championship regardless so I guess it doesn't really matter what place we end up with. Making the playoffs however even as a last seed would be a good selling point for free agents, so I think playoffs should always be the goal.

anything above 30 seems too optimistic. I hope I'm wrong though.

Vegas has the line at 24.5 wins... I personally think we can win 28 to 30 if the young guns step up and the vets add some stability but this year will be gauged on how well the young guns play...

With the Warriors becoming a super team of the ages, and so many teams being middling, I think this year you could potentially see a lot of "parity" from the 4th seed through the 15th seed.

Either teams are going to tank, or so many teams are going to be mediocre that we all just beat up on each other.

If our guys gel quickly, and a few have taken a leap (Clarkson/Randle coming into their third years, the huge opportunity for D'Angelo, Nance being an older 2nd year player, Ingram's raw size) I can see this team being in the mix.

From this vantage point I think it could be one of those years where a .500 team can potentially make it to the playoffs.

Considering the fact that aside from the Warriors, Spurs, Clippers are established teams with known quantities then I don't see why 30 wins isn't irrational. Sure you have a team like the Grizzleys but two of their top players are coming off of injuries. Marc is going to be 32 years old. Plus they have a new coach.

This is a year with a lot of turnover, which means predicting it is going to be tough. I will say that nobody in the West aside from the top 3 seem unbeatable. I look for our guys to compete with a fire we haven't seen in some time.

Barring a horrible string of injuries, I see our range at 33-43 games. And hell, it's October, give me 43.
