I understand he's being slowly developed into the system, but he needs to start playing better. His shooting has been off, and his aggressiveness looks non-existent at times.
People need to understand that he's the second overall pick. I highly doubt Ben Simmons will struggle like this when he returns.
Let's see... One is out 4-6 MONTHS and the other is playing... Maybe that's a bad analogy.
Would anyone actually bet on Simmons out with a Jones Fracture, over Ingram who's starting as a rookie on a potential playoff team but not playing that well?
Here's an article briefly cataloging Durant's saga post Jones fracture... Not pretty:

Now, KD's situation may be rare, but Simmons plays a more explosive style of basketball too that's going to be more brutal on his feet, and I think a lot of people would say KD really hasn't been the player he was before the injury.
As far as Ingram is concerned, the fact that he's even playing right now is both a huge win and a fluke... He wasn't supposed to be trying to carry this much load as a rookie on this team but he has to. I think he's doing well considering...
He's just trying to get his footing right now... He's showing flashes of great things to come, but it was bound to be rocky at his age and still growing and being skinny as a rail... Not sure what your expectations were, but it sounds like if you were expecting Ingram to be a star right now, they were too high... Either that, or you were basing them on a more traditional Big like Towns, Davis, Okafor, etc... Remember, Ingram's a SF stretched to PF height... He's being asked to do more than those guys with regard to running the offense, etc... The learning curve is steeper for him.
I'm sure you can think of some second overall picks who didn't play all that great their rookie year and still went on to be special in the NBA...
