Being over 50 with 5 surgeries in my past I do know a little about this subject from experience. Being 20 years old and having minute limitations because of a knee issue is never a good thing nor is it something that is an issue of "just a clean out".
To me, this is sounding like a structural issue. The initial remedy and no injury incident points to that. Knee "pain" is different than a meniscus tear which is what is "cleaned up" in the minor arthroscopic procedures.
I hope I'm wrong but this whole scenario of the knee "pain" with no injury in a 20 year old just doesn't seem like a small issue.

Re: D'angelo Russell Injury watch
Russell, who had knee surgery while in high school, had an MRI on his knee before the season started. He said he had been dealing with some pain in his knee “on and off” since the beginning of the season but didn’t consider it anything serious.
He said he’s not sure what caused the pain in his knee that required missing games, beginning with their Nov. 18 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Russell played two days later against the Chicago Bulls, but he was cautious and hesitated to do much inside the perimeter. He has not played since.

Not to my knowledge. The article I posted was just to give more information on his past knee issues.

Re: D'angelo Russell Injury watch
The MRI before the season would have shown any meniscus issues. Maybe he's not good with pain and it's not a serious issue or maybe is something more serious but at this level it seems like it should be at least known what caused a 20 year old to have the platelet procedure which is usually reserved for 35 year olds to squeeze a year or two more out of the old legs.
