Imagine in 5 years, after having all these top picks in the lottery our best player is 2nd round pick Zupac lol.

He has the tools to be. Health for 7 footer is always a concern. The circumstances of his being a second rounder were unique. In a more typical situation he was probably going in the second 10 picks is what I was reading about him prior to the draft. Either way it's good to see one of the players surprise us in a really good way. Now if we could just get Ingram to hit some shots consistently.

Right now I couldn't care less about BI, Russ, JC, and Randle. Zubac is the one to watch.

Zubac is an example that shoots some holes in the "he's young" defense of younger players. He knows how to play the game, has innate talent, and is obviously willing to work and learn. The last part is not a product of age but rather something that is there from the formative years. He's 19 and he's having more success, albeit in a very small sample, than our number 2 pick who is also 19. Not a knock on Ingram rather it shows that there are intangibles that are there from day one.

Ingram has all the "intangibles" whatever that may be. His issue is physical maturity. So while both are 19, the similarities end their when it comes to the biggest obstacle Ingram has to overcome. Zubac is a 7 ft physical beast, he doesn't have to deal with Ingram's biggest challenge.

Zubac was an under-rated pick from the beginning... He may never be as good as Cousins is right now, but I could see him being better than prime Mark for sure. Maybe better than both Gasol Bros... He just needs to stay in shape, keep his weight down (he's got a freakish lower body and it may be difficult for him), and build lean muscle... The skills are there. The foundation. He just needs to add little things here and there and he can be 'the next great lakers big man.'

This doesn't really add anything to the conversation, but I just want to remind everyone that prime Marc Gasol was a top 10 player that was the anchor of his team on both defense and offense...

100% -- I absolutely would NOT trade Tarik Black unless the value was phenomenal. I think he's certainly a part of this core going forward. Great back-up big man to have.

So are you ok with sitting him? That's the only other alternative. The Lakers aren't going to dnp Mozgov with their 64 million reasons. So either Zubac gets the minutes or Black does.

Tarik dropped about 4 easy passes from Russell in pick and roll situations that I would have expected a decent center to finish. I like the energy he brings but he's not really indispensible for me and I think Thomas Robinson could bring the same things at a cheaper price point.

Black could be used at PF and if Luke wants to go small then use Black instead of Zubac/Moz at center. Black is a useful big and the decision on him could come but not this season.

Really not a fan of justifying multi million deals must be played even if they don't deliver.

I don't think anyone is, yet generally that is what happens.

there's a decent argument that prime marc and pau were better players than Cousins has ever been.

I'm not talking about success... I'm talking about pure basketball talent.
Pau maybe was better than Cousins in his prime, but IMO Marc was never as good as Cousins is right now.... And I'm no Cousins fan. Cousins isn't as fundamentally sound and plays all over the court, but his combination of talent, skill and size is pretty unique... His main issue is his mentality. Pau and Marc have always been pure professionals, which is part of what led them to greater success than maybe Cousins ever will.

This implies that weight gain is the only missing factor in Ingrams development. I think it's a little more than that.
